Abstract

A method of preparing petroleum-based mesophase pitch having a high anisotropic structure content, a low softening point and uniform constitution is provided. The method includes subjecting catalytic cracking oil slurry of naphthenic crude oil to vacuum distillation, cutting distillates the boiling points of which are 400-540 DEG C as raw materials, reacting the raw materials at 410-480 DEG C under 4 MPa for 2-14 h to obtain premesophase pitch the softening point of which is 180-260 DEG C, then removing a part of low-boiling-point components in the premesophase pitch through a vacuum distillation process at 260-350 DEG C under -0.1 MPa, and subjecting the rest high-boiling-point components to thermal precipitation at 300-380 DEG C under atmospheric pressure for 0.5-3 h to obtain products separated in two layers in a reactor, with the lower layer being prepared high-quality mesophase pitch. The preparing process is simple, and the production cost is low.
