Abstract

The invention discloses synthetic mica. The synthetic mica is mainly prepared from the following raw materials: quartz powder, fused magnesia, potassium fluorosilicate, alumina powder, potassium tetrafluoroaluminate and potassium carbonate. The synthetic mica is applied to fabrication of flexible mineral insulated cables. A preparation method for the synthetic mica comprises the following steps: (1) fully and uniformly mixing quartz powder, fused magnesia, potassium fluorosilicate, alumina powder, potassium tetrafluoroaluminate and potassium carbonate in a mixer in proportion; (2) building a furnace body from refractory bricks, and installing graphite electrodes in the furnace body for heating, wherein the shape of the furnace body and a hearth are both of an oval shape to match with the arrangement of the electrodes; and (3) putting the materials uniformly mixed in the step 1 into the above furnace body for electrothermal calcination and melting, and then carrying out clarification, cooling and crystallization so as to obtain synthetic mica crystal blocks which are used for making the flexible mineral insulated cables. The yield of primary synthetic mica is improved. The syntheticmica of the invention has good light transmittance, low water absorption rate, high melting point, and almost no carbonization residue.
