A medical characterization system is configured to input medical-related continuous parameters and discrete data so as to calculate a characterization timeline indicative of a physiological condition of a living being. A data source is in sensor communications with a patient so as to generate a continuous parameter. The data source also provides test data responsive to the patient at a test time. The test data is available to a characterization processor at a result time. The characterization processor is also responsive to the continuous parameter so as to generate a medical characterization as a function of time. A characterization analyzer enables the characterization processor to update the medical characterization in view of the test data as of the test time.

The subject invention provides a unique system and method that facilitates management and navigation of various data objects by making use of a unique time-line based navigation tool. In particular, objects can organized into a plurality of bands based on their respective subject matter. Each band can be created to designate a particular topic. Objects are organized within the appropriate bands based in part on a time parameter such as a time or date that the object was created, for example. The navigation tool allows a user to navigate or browse through the bands and objects according to a desired time parameter or range of time. Zooming and other browsing options are available to the user to view objects of interest at varying levels of detail. The objects are represented as ASCII thumbnails that are operational. A method of manipulating a time based stream of information through use of a user interface to generate a presentation is provided in which a processing system is employed. The methods use references to a selected time based stream of information as editing tools. The user interface has functionality to display only a single time line for aligning reference elements to visual time based stream of information. The references may include a variety of edit features that enhance the presentation. Some mechanisms for moving the reference elements on the user interface are drag and drop and/or cut and paste procedures. A quantitative risk assessment system (QRAS) builds a risk model of a system for which risk of failure is being assessed, then analyzes the risk of the system corresponding to the risk model. The QRAS performs sensitivity analysis of the risk model by altering fundamental components and quantifications built into the risk model, then re-analyzes the risk of the system using the modifications. More particularly, the risk model is built by building a hierarchy, creating a mission timeline, quantifying failure modes, and building/editing event sequence diagrams. The present invention discloses methods and systems for providing broadcast ad identification. Methods include the steps of: providing fingerprint signatures of each frame in a broadcast video; and designating at least two repeat fingerprint signatures upon detecting at least one fingerprint-signature match from the signatures. Preferably, methods further include: prior to the designating, determining whether the fingerprint signatures correspond to a known ad based upon detecting at least one fingerprint-signature match of the fingerprint signatures with pre-indexed fingerprint signatures of pre-indexed ads. Preferably, method further include: creating segments of the fingerprint signatures, ordered according to a timeline temporal proximity of the fingerprint signatures, by grouping at least two fingerprint signatures based on a repeat temporal proximity of at least two repeat fingerprint signatures respective of at least two fingerprint signatures. Preferably, methods further include detecting at least one ad candidate based on an occurrence of at least one repeat segment.
