This application relates to the field of
cell biology, and more specifically to a multimodal biophysical characterization apparatus, a multimodal biophysical characterization
system, a multimodal biophysical characterization method, and its applications. This application enables multimodal, high-resolution, high-
throughput, high-sensitivity, low-cost, low-damage, and configurable physical characterization of single cells or multicellular aggregates, and allows for the application of different types and intensities of stimuli (e.g., mechanical, electrical, or
optical stimulation) to the sample under measurement to better mimic the
in vivo microenvironment, and allows for manipulation (e.g., labeling, fixation,
ablation,
cutting, extraction, or sorting) of samples at specific locations or regions, and can be combined with other
characterization methods (e.g.,
protein staining,
histochemical staining, or single-
cell sequencing) for comparative analysis. The multimodal biophysical characterization apparatus according to this application is suitable for fields such as
synthetic biology, diagnostics,
drug discovery, early tumor screening,
cell therapy, and
precision medicine.
