63 results about "Tree view" patented technology

A tree view or an outline view is a graphical control element that presents a hierarchical view of information. Each item (often called a branch or a node) can have a number of subitems. This is often visualized by indentation in a list.

Enhanced tree control system for navigating lattices data structures and displaying configurable lattice-node labels

The objective of the instant invention is to define a computer user interface display system that presents hierarchical data in an enhanced tree presentation control that blends the ease-of-use character of the familiar "tree presentation control" with a technique for navigating more complex lattice data structures, while at the same time providing more node information by displaying configured lattice-node labels along with the node's name. Thus a primary objective of this invention is to facilitate building, maintaining and using a multiple inheritance taxonomy such as a product catalog data base by means of a multi-navigation path browsing system, which is made possible through the capability of this system's multiple inheritance capability; with indicators in the tree view to indicate ancestors such as immediate parents and further removed ancestors.

Tree view for reusable data markup language

Methods and systems provide a “tree view” for a markup language referred to as Reusable Data Markup Language (“RDML”). Generally, a tree view comprises the components necessary for automatically manipulating and displaying a graphical display of numerical data contained in RDML markup documents. RDML is a markup language, such as the Hypertext Markup Language (“HTML”) or the Extensible Markup Language (“XML”). Generally, RDML facilitates the browsing and manipulation of numbers, as opposed to text as in HTML, and does so by requiring attributes describing the meaning of the numbers to be attached to the numbers. Upon receiving RDML markup documents, the tree view transforms, formats, manipulates and displays data stored in the markup documents using the attributes describing the meaning of the data. The tree view uses the attributes of the numbers to, for example, facilitate the simultaneous display of different series of numbers of different types on a single display. It automatically displays the relationship between series of numbers while displaying appropriate labels, titles, number precision, etc. A tree view may be a component of a data viewer used to retrieve, manipulate, and view documents in the RDML format.

Determining and displaying a list of most commonly used items

An operating system program launch menu, such as a Start menu, provides various mechanisms for a user to quickly and efficiently locate and launch desired data items such as programs, data files, storage locations, and the like. A search box within the program launch menu may be used to quickly locate programs, documents, communications, and other data items. An auto-complete feature may be used, e.g., when the user restricts the locations searched for the user-entered search text. A most commonly used program list may include programs based on various criteria including both frequency of use and recent use, thereby always including a most recently used item. An all programs view may display programs and documents in a hosted-tree view within the original confines of the program launch menu, thereby negating the need to open sub-menus on top of a large portion of the desktop displayed on the display device.

System and method for using shading layers and highlighting to navigate a tree view display

A system and method for displaying layered data, such as data with a hierarchical relationship is provided. A flat tree view control is provided that indicates the level corresponding to individual data items without indenting data items. Colors or grayscale shading is applied to each data item to indicate the item's level within the hierarchy. Items within the same level use the same color or shading. When an item is selected by the user it is expanded or collapsed depending on whether the layers below the selected item already appear on the display screen. Additional level indicator values and level indicator bars can be used to further indicate the level of data items. A data item can also be highlighted to indicate a particular attribute corresponding with an individual data item.

User interface for a digital content management system

A graphical user interface and digital content processor for the management of digital data. The graphical user interface is characterized by two treeview controls capable of transforming the screen display of items under management by acting as a filtering mechanism for the category value pairs inherent in every item under management. The treeview controls folders, or nodes, transform the screen display of data under management to filter by the category values represented by the treeview controls' folders when selected.

System and methods for inline property editing in tree view based editors

A system and method directed to inline property editing for tree view based editors is provided. A user selects a desired node within a tree view and then hover the mouse cursor over the node causing a smart tag anchor to appear. When the use clicks on the smart tag anchor an object property panel appears injected into the tree showing property and attributes for the selected node. The panel appears in direct visual proximity to the node, such as directly below the node while the node appears in its location within the tree with. The tree is expanded such that the property panel does not visually obscure any part of the tree. Multiple panel may be opened simultaneously such that property and attribute information may be visually compared for various nodes.

Method, storage medium and system for electronically viewing multi-page document while preserving appearance of printed pages

An electronic Yellow Pages viewer shows the pages of a Yellow Pages directory as they appear in the bound version. The print queue used to print the bound version is intercepted, and each page is rasterized into a JPEG file or otherwise converted into an image file. The page / header / advertisement data are parsed to create an index which associates each Yellow Pages heading with the first page on which that heading appears. The viewer runs as a Java applet inside a World Wide Web browser and allows a user to access a page by typing the name of a heading, selecting the heading from a tree view or typing a page number. A Yellow Pages advertiser receives an electronic bill with an electronic tear sheet showing the page on which the advertisement appears. The bill can also include one or more of the reverse page, the opposite page, or other pages in the same heading. The advertisement can be selectively highlighted.

Method and system of displaying telecommunication trace diagnostic information

A display format for a distributed system and method using a catalog definition language (CDL) based integrated trace analysis (iTAS) application for decoding telecommunication tracer information originating from any telecommunication network element and utilizing any industry standard or proprietary telecommunication protocol. User input to iTAS is provided using the appropriate form or forms on a browser-based graphical user interface (GUI). The display format of the browser-based graphical user interface (GUI) uses a common display page having three panes in which to display a tree view of trace events, a view of the decoded trace data, and a view of the original trace. For each original trace request partial results are displayed in the tree view and the decoded trace data, with regular updating until complete results are provided. The display provides for a plurality of concurrently pending original trace requests. The view within all three panes can be synchronized based on the selection of an event from the tree view pane. Further, any pane can be collapsed if required. Additional panes on the common display page are provided for controlling the display, searching and filtering the contents of the three panes, and displaying the progress of decoding.

Generation of a network topology hierarchy

A new network topology visualization is produced from an existing network topology using grouping algorithms that are selectively applied to selectable hierarchies of the existing network topological hierarchy. The new network topology is rendered for review. Interaction may be provided through a graphical user interface (GUI). The new network topology is provided as a previewing visualization. The previewing visualization is provided in a tree-view. The previewing visualization provides a visual differentiation between portions of the network topology that are changed by the grouping algorithm and portions that are not changed. The grouping algorithms may be provided as plug-in algorithms. A further new network topology may be rendered in response to receipt of a changed network topology.

OLE DB data access system with schema modification features

Mapping of data source schema data types relating a server side database description into a set of OLE DB data types is rendered subject to user modification by provision of a dual Schema File at a client side terminal which contains an original copy and a modifiable copy of the data source schema. Selected contents of the modifiable Schema File are then displayed in a split window format, including one window which provides a tree view of the schema structure and an adjacent window which displays a set of values related to a selected element of the tree view. Selected values are then subject to modification via user point and click and data entry operations.

Dynamic multi-dimensional scrolling

A system and method of automatically dynamically scrolling content in a dimension to enhance user navigation and display of a relevant node is disclosed. In one example, when a user scrolls vertically to a node in a folder tree control where the node / folder name is not visible, the folder tree view may be automatically dynamically scrolled horizontally such that the full name of the folder is viewable. The automatic dynamic scrolling alleviates the effort and stress related to requiring a user to manually scroll a view in two dimensions in a tree control.
