An article for mounting from or against the ceiling is removably coupled to a base fixedly secured to the ceiling, by a person standing on the floor, supporting the article on an elongated rod, and thrusting the article against the base to couple the article and the secured base. The article is removed by inserting the rod into the article, exerting a force on the rod to uncouple the article from the base, and supporting the article on the rod as the article is lowered. The article is thus positioned on or hung from the ceiling, without being manually contacted by the person. The present invention provides a multi-layer tape, comprising: a first adhesive layer comprising a pressure sensitive adhesive; a core layer having an outer surface, the first adhesive layer adhered to at least a portion of the outer surface; and fibrous reinforcing material dispersed within the core layer, the fibrous reinforcing material imparting stretch release properties to the tape. The tape may comprise a second adhesive layer wherein the outer surface comprises a first major surface and a second major surface, the first adhesive layer being adhered to the first major surface, and the second adhesive layer being adhered to the second major surface. A fire retardant may be disposed in any of the first adhesive layer, the second adhesive layer, and the core layer. The tape may be cleanly removable. The fibrous reinforcing material typically comprises substantially continuous viscoelastic microfibers having a yield strength and a tensile break strength, and the tensile break strength is at least about 150% of the yield strength. In another aspect, the tapes of the invention may be formulated to be cleanly removable without including fibrous reinforcing material therein. The invention also provides a method for the manufacture of the foregoing tape as well as an assembly comprising: a substrate; a carpet overlying the substrate; and a tape according to the invention disposed between the carpet and the substrate and adhering the carpet to the substrate.

A suction-adhesive device comprising a suction cup, a stem extending from the suction cup, and a body through which the stem extends. A spring interacts with the stem and the body for biasing the suction cup towards the body to apply suction. The viscoelastic material is temporarily adhered to the frame and is capable of selectively adhering the apparatus to the surface. The viscoelastic material preferably includes an R.T.V.-type silicon-based compound, a dimethyl siloxane compound, a borosilicone rubber combination with silicone oil, a silicone polymer combination with boric oxide, or a combination thereof. As such, the viscoelastic material is able to temporarily adhere to most surfaces with enough strength to hold the apparatus and the device thereto, even against the force of gravity and in virtually any typical environmental temperature. At least one lateral frame member is included, projecting away from the longitudinal shaft for increasing the surface area of the frame to which the viscoelastic material adheres. An outer covering surrounds the viscoelastic material and the frame and serves as a barrier between the viscoelastic material and the device.

A cutting tool securing apparatus for temporarily securing a tool such as a vegetable slicing tool to a planar member such as a table or countertop. The invention removes the necessity of permanently mounting the tool or mounting apparatus to the table or countertop. The cutting tool securing apparatus of the present invention has no moving, adjustable or articulating members. The apparatus is comprised of an L-shaped metal plate, to which a tool-mounting apparatus is bolted. The metal plate includes a first member, which is removably affixed to the top of a planar surface, such as a table, via temporary securing means. One or more rubber suction cups are the preferred type of temporary securing means. The suction cups are affixed to the lower surface of the plate. The cups serve to secure the apparatus to the planar surface yet allow the apparatus to later be removed in order to clean the area. The apparatus also includes a second member, substantially perpendicular to the first member that is adaptable to be wrapped around downwardly extending edge of the table to prevent the tool from sliding laterally forward or backward during use.

A fastening mechanism is mounted on a suction cup including a pivotal ball in a receptacle and having surface recesses, a leg secured to the ball, and a channel open to both the external and the receptacle, the channel having an intermediate enlargement. The mechanism includes a shank in the channel and having an exposed end, a rod extended from the other end of the shank and inserted in the recess, a shoulder proximate the rod, and a resilient member compressed between the shoulder and an internal wall of the channel. The present invention discloses an improved sucking disk type hanging pole which comprises a protruded shaft on top and a rubber sucking disk on bottom, a stand with a connecting sleeve on top and a shell plate on bottom, a flexible hanging pole and a retaining base for coupling a retained object; wherein the disk body of the stand is smaller than the rubber sucking disk; a through hole is disposed at the center and interconnected to a bar-shaped sliding groove; a spring disposed in the through hole props a protruded cylindrical shaft of the sucking disk body is; a pivotal axle rod of the protruded cylindrical shaft passes through a sliding groove and pivotally connects with a latch member, and the board latch member at its periphery comprises a cam edge for contacting and supporting a shell plate of the stand, so that the cam edge pushes the shell plate to move back and forth by turning the latch member in order to drive the protruded pole together by the spring to loosen the rubber sucking disk and allow the groove slot to deform the shell plate more easily and facilitate the slightly curved surface to have the sucking or loosening effects. Further, with the flexibility of the hanging pole, the present invention allows user to quickly adjust the direction and height of the retaining base and facilitate carrying a heavy load on a smooth fixing object such as a ceramic tile or glass.

A bath toy mounting device adapted to be releasably secured to the side or bottom wall of a bathtub partially filled with water. The bath toy mounting device maintains a secure attachment to the bathtub but may be easily removed by an adult. Some embodiments disclose a coupling device configured to couple to a surface. The coupling device including: (a) a first housing; (b) a rotational dial with a first aperture and mechanically coupled to the first housing, the rotational dial comprising a cam mechanism adjacent to the first aperture; (c) a support base comprising a first stem with a second aperture, the first stem is located inside the first aperture, the stem having a second aperture; (d) a suction cup coupled to at least one of the rotational dial or the support base, the suction cup having: (1) a suction portion; and (2) a second stem located inside of the second aperture; and (e) an elastic mechanism located at least partially between the support base and the second stem of the suction cup. The coupling device is configured such that the suction cup can be rotated relative to at least the rotational dial to create a vacuum between the suction portion and the surface. A novel portable multimedia device for improving client experiences in a personal services industry can be detachably mounted to a tool used by the service provider, such as a hair clipper for a barber. The device comprises a processor, data storage, memory, video display and speakers, as well as a data input module, and can accommodate a library of electronic media files. Optionally, the device can include a camera, telephone, GPS, and other functions including credit card processing and bar code reader. Also provided are methods of using the device for professional service providers, for example barbers, hairstylists, or others. Also provided is a universal mounting system for portable electronic devices that comprises a retaining member and a mounting member for mounting to a variety of mounts including handles, clips, suction cups, goosenecks, flexible joints, magnetic mounts, and key rings.
