The process of producing vat powder with recovered SO2 tail gas washing liquid has following three materials added into the reactor: SO2 dissolved in methanol or liquid SO2, suspension of alkali metal formate, and suspension of alkali metal pyrosulfite or carbonate. The present invention features that SO2 tail gas washing liquid is fed to suspension of sodium formate or sodium pyrosulfite and to a neutralizer. The present invention has greatly reduced water consumption and exhausted waste water, high product yield and low cost.
