Abstract

The invention relates to a radiation shielding fiber and a preparation method thereof. The radiation shielding fiber comprises the following raw materials by weight percent: 1-10 percent of ammonium tungstate, 5-20 percent of polyacrylonitrile copolymer and 70-95 percent of dimethyl formamide (DMF). The preparation method for the radiation shielding fiber comprises the following steps of preparing the raw materials according to proportions and feeding the materials in sequence to obtain a transparent faint-yellow clarified homogenous-phase mixed solution, performing ultrasonic stewing to remove bubbles to obtain a spinning solution, and then preparing fibrils through dry spinning treatment; drying the obtained fibrils, and performing pre-oxidization treatment on the dried fibrils under existence of air; carbonizing the pre-oxidized fibrils under the atmosphere of nitrogen to obtain the radiation shielding fiber containing metal tungsten nano particles. The radiation shielding fiber and the preparation method thereof, which are disclosed by the invention, have the beneficial effects that the radiation shielding fiber has the performance of a fibrous material and also an anti-radiation function of metal tungsten; furthermore, products with different densities can be manufactured according to different proportions.
