The present invention comprises electrosurgical apparatus and methods for maintaining patency in body passages subject to occlusion by invasive tissue growth. The apparatus includes an electrode support disposed at a shaft distal end having at least one active electrode arranged thereon, and at least one return electrode proximal to the at least one active electrode. In one embodiment, a plurality of active electrodes each comprising a curved wire loop portion are sealed within a distal portion of the electrode support. The apparatus and methods of the present invention may be used to open and maintain patency in virtually any hollow body passage which may be subject to occlusion by invasive cellular growth or invasive solid tumor growth. Suitable hollow body passages include ducts, orifices, lumens, and the like, with exemplary body passages including the coronary arteries. The present invention is particularly useful for reducing or eliminating the effects of restenosis in coronary arteries by selectively removing tissue in-growth in or around stents anchored therein.

The charger 10 includes a first charging path that charges battery banks via current limiting resistors R1 to R3, a second charging path that charges the battery banks without passing through the current limiting resistors R1 to R3, and a circuit that is capable of selectively switching the first and second charging paths to one another, being provided to the respective battery banks, and being identical in resistance values of the current limiting resistors R1 to R3. Charging method

A charging method includes first and second charging steps to charge a lithium-ion battery. In the first charging step, a temperature rise gradient of the battery to a current is detected. A battery temperature when the battery is charged to a first predetermined capacity is predicted based on the gradient. A charging current is controlled based on the predicted temperature. The battery is charged, at a current that brings a battery temperature lower than a predetermined temperature, to the first predetermined capacity. In the second charging step, a temperature rise gradient of the battery is detected. A battery temperature when the battery is charged to a second predetermined capacity is predicted based on the gradient. A charging current is controlled based on the predicted temperature. The battery is charged, at a current that brings the temperature of the battery lower than the predetermined temperature, to the second predetermined capacity.

High voltage ripple reduction and substrate protection

In a non-volatile memory, charge pumps are used to provide high voltages needed for programming memory cells that have floating gate structures. Charge pumps have a series of voltage multiplier stages in series to boost voltage. These charge pumps must rapidly charge a load to a high voltage and then maintain a voltage with a high degree of stability. Techniques for achieving both of these goals are presented. In one aspect, a charge pump has two operating states, one to charge a load rapidly and a second to maintain a voltage on a charged load with high stability. These states are achieved by changing the current output-from a high current during charging to a low current to maintain the voltage. This is done by changing the capacitance used in the individual voltage multiplier stages. In another aspect, two different current levels are produced by changing the voltage used to charge the capacitors of the voltage multiplier stages.
