Abstract

The process includes the free radical emulsion copolymerization with acrylic acid monomer or unsaturated monomer, PVA as dispersant, composite surfactant as emulsifier and peroxide as initiator under the conditions of 30-120 deg.c and normal pressure or raised pressure; neutralization with organic alkali and filtering. The copolymerized material includes carboxylic acid monomer in 1-10 wt%, (methyl) acrylate monomer in 2-80 wt% and (methyl) styrene monomer in 10-90 wt%. The prepared water base material is fine emulsion with particle size of 20-80 nm, less smell, no toxicity, good leveling performance, quick drying and other features.
