Abstract

The invention relates to a waterborne dispersion resin containing hydroxyl and a preparation method thereof. The resin is characterized in that the resin is obtained by free radical polymerization of various vinyl monomers in water under the action of initiators to form a copolymer and then neutralizing the copolymer to form salt; hydroxyl accounts for 3.0-4.0% of the total mass of the resin; the mass percent of the medium water is 70-74%; the mass percent of neutralizers is 3.0-4.0%; the total mass percent of various vinyl monomers is 24-26%; the initiators account for 2.2-2.6% of the total mass of various vinyl monomers; and various vinyl monomers are formed by 60-80% of vinyl monomers without functional groups, 15-35% of vinyl monomers containing the hydroxyl functional group and 8-15% of vinyl monomers containing the carboxyl functional group. The resin is especially suitable to be used in the waterborne cross-linkable coating systems with waterborne hydroxyl dispersions or hydroxyl emulsion as the main film forming matters to disperse pigments and fillers and can obviously improve such performances of the films as gloss, water resistance and chemical media resistance.
