The high-density melamine molding compound comprises the following components in percentage by weight: 50-69% of melamine formaldehyde resin, 30-50% of barium sulfate, 0.3-0.6% of lubricant, 0.05-0.1% of curing agent, 0.5-1.5% of titanium dioxide and 0-0.5% pigment. The production method comprises the following steps: (1) preparation of the melamine formaldehyde resin, to be specific, (a) adding 450-550 parts of formaldehyde solution with the concentration of 35-40% to a reaction vessel, adjusting the pH value to 8-9, adding 350-450 parts of melamine, heating to 85-95 DEG C, and reacting till ending, (b) cooling to 65-75 DEG C, putting in a kneading machine, adding 180-220 parts of wood pulp and 15-25 parts of barium sulfate, kneading, feeding into a drying oven, and drying, and (c) using a mesh-belt type hot air drying oven for drying with hot air at the temperature of 80-90 DEG C, and controlling moisture below 3.5%, thus obtaining the melamine formaldehyde resin; and (2) preparation of the product, to be specific, (a) pouring a dry material into a ball mill, adding other auxiliary materials according to a formula, carrying out ball milling for 6-12 hours, thickening and matching colors, and (b) levigating the material, sieving by using a 35-45 mesh sieve, then packaging by using lining thin film paper bags, and storing the finished product in environments below 25 DEG C.
