Temperature-controllable device

Described herein are temperature-controllable devices, and methods for using them. In some variations, the devices comprise a fluid passageway region, which is configured to allow a fluid to flow therethrough, and a splint. The splint may be moldable to at least a portion of a subject's anatomy, e.g., a nose. In other variations, the devices comprise a fluid passageway region configured to allow a fluid to flow therethrough, and an absorbent pad. In some variations, the devices comprise three layers, in which two of the layers form a fluid passageway region and the third layer forms a pocket or pouch. In this way, the pouch may be configured to receive at least one splint therein, e.g., in order to provide support to an injured area such as a nose. Methods for using the devices to treat an injured area are also described. Kits are also described.

Conformable adhesive wound closures

A wound closure including a wound bridging portion that has sufficient dimensional stability to hold the wound edges in proper alignment, even in the face of substantial stretching of the wound closure as a whole, is disclosed. The wound closure is dimensionally stable directly over the wound. The remainder of the wound closure is preferably substantially more extensible and elastic than the wound bridging portion to improve conformability and adhesion of the wound closure to the patient. The wound closures may include opposing end portions of unequal lengths yielding an asymmetric shape that facilitates close placement of the wound closures along a wound.

Device for the delivery of blood clotting materials to a wound site

A sleeve for covering a portion of a limb at a wound site incorporates a molecular sieve material which is at least partially exposed so that blood flowing from a wound site over which the sleeve is positioned contacts the molecular sieve material to facilitate clotting. One end of the sleeve may be closed to form a stocking or a mitten. The molecular sieve material may also be incorporated into a cap or similar device for wearing on the head of a victim. A chin strap may be attached to the cap to facilitate the retaining of the cap on the victim's head. The molecular sieve material may also be incorporated into a bandage that is directly wearable on a wound.

InactiveUS6180133B1Significant free radical protectionHead bandagesCosmetic preparationsWrinkle skinVitamin C
An anti-wrinkle skin treating composition comprises a pressure sensitive matrix patch having dissolved in the adhesive a mixture of antioxidants in the form of a Vitamins C ester and Vitamin E. Also preferably dissolved in the adhesive are glycerine and a polydiorganosiloxane adhesion-adjusting agent. Optionally dissolved in the adhesive is also one or more members selected from the group consisting of moisturizing agents, skin collagen synthesis promoting agents and exfoliating agents. When applied to a wrinkled skin area the composition acts to diminish fine wrinkles and improves the overall thickness, elasticity, firmness and smoothness of the skin. The modified adhesive properties of the patch are sufficient to maintain the patch in place on the skin for the recommended treatment period while allowing the patch to be readily removed without causing skin irritation or leaving adhesive residue on the skin.
