A system for providing a force to a desired area on a curved body part of a person includes a dressing assembly shaped and configured to be placed on the desired area of the person, a releaseable circumferential member surrounding the curved body part that holds the dressing assembly against the desired area, a sealing subsystem for providing a fluid seal over the dressing assembly and the person's skin, and a reduced-pressure subsystem for providing a reduced pressure to the dressing assembly. When reduced pressure is supplied, the system generates the force against the desired area on the curved body part.

A women's waistless and seamless clothing adherable underwear includes an oval pad made of a soft absorbent material, wherein the pad has double sided strips of adhesive tape with removable peel-off cover strips to attach to the inside crotch area of low slung clothing pants, such as tight pants, leotards or dungaree jeans facing upward to the skin and crotch of the wearer. The material is preferably a soft, non-woven, absorbent material. The underwear is particularly suited for women who wear tight pants, or low waist hip hugger pants, which widely reveal waist bands and seams of panty underwear, or expose underwear waist bands. A disposable nursing breast pad is contoured to fit the breast of a nursing woman and is comprised of a soft, highly absorbent material. Disposed adjacent the center of the pad's inner surface is a lubricating moisturizer, such as lanolin, to protect the woman's nipple and prevent dryness and cracking. A bandage for protecting the skin of an infant's stomach surrounding an umbilical cord stump from the irritating effects of medicinal solutions. The bandage is substantially flat and has an absorbent upper surface, a substantially nonabsorbent lower surface, and a circular central cutout wherefrom the umbilical cord stump may be extended. The bandage has a flap closure portion comprising a bottom flap and an overlapping top flap. The top flap has adhesive on its lower surface whereby the top flap maybe attached to the bottom flap. In use, the bandage is placed on the infant's stomach with the umbilical cord stump extending therefrom. Then, the lower surface of the top flap is attached to the underlying bottom flap. With the protective bandage in place, a variety of solutions may be applied to the umbilical cord stump without irritating the sensitive skin of the infant's stomach.

A process of manufacturing a belt wherein a plurality of strips of a first material are sewn together to create an outer member having a desired length with a plurality of vertical seams. A layer of a second material is placed over the seams and sewn thereto create a plurality of vertical slots. After staves are inserted in the slots, a layer of a resilient material is placed over the second material and a layer of perforated material is placed over the resilient material. A strip of material is placed on the peripheral surface of the inner and outer members and sewn to define the belt. First and second fasteners on the first and second side sections joined together to apply a force through the staves to provide support for an underlying area of the torso of an individual to assist in attaining a desired posture.

A binder for supporting the abdomen, back, ribs or breasts includes an H-shaped elongated band with an inner surface and an outer surface. The H-shaped elongated band includes a central panel, a first extension member and second extension member extending from an upper portion of and contiguous with the central panel and a third extension member and a fourth extension member extending from a lower portion of and contiguous with the central panel. The inner surface of the central panel is positioned adjacent to a portion of a user's body and a first slit on the first extension member is adapted to receive the second extension member, and a second slit on the third extension member is adapted to receive the fourth extension member thereby securing the binder on the user's body via fastening members positioned on each of the extension members.

Disclosed herein is a water dispersible pantiliner which has a triggerably dispersible body side facing liner, a garment side facing baffle, and, optionally, a triggerably dispersible absorbent core disposed between the liner and baffle. The garment baffle may be biodegradable. In one embodiment, the invention has a peel strip overlaying a garment attachment adhesive layer which adhesively attaches the peel strip to the clothing of a wearer on one side and to one side of a baffle on the other. The baffle is in turn attached on a second side to a body facing side with a construction adhesive. The body facing side may be made from multiple layers such as a body side liner and absorbent layer.

An absorbent breast pad and a method of producing the breast pad are provided. The breast pad can be relatively easily manufactured, causes less irritation to the skin of a user, and has excellent shape retaining ability. The breast pad has a laminating material formed by laminating on each other a back sheet (11) for preventing liquid permeation, a top sheet (13) in contact with the body of the user, and an absorbent (12) disposed between the back sheet and the top sheet. The top sheet and the back sheet are joined to each other at their outer peripheral edge parts. Cutouts (22) formed by cutting out the absorbent are located at opposite positions of the outer peripheral edge parts and are formed such that their widths gradually decrease inward to cut the absorbent. The top sheet is joined to the back sheet on the inside of the cutouts. The breast pad also has joints (21) that are portions at which the top sheet inner surfaces superposed on each other at the cutouts are joined together. In the joining of the top sheet inner surfaces, the top sheet is positioned on the inside of the pad with the pad folded along a bend line (23) connecting the cutouts.

The invention is a postoperative binder and method of use. The binder is made of relatively inelastic material that is cut to fit the patient and held in place by a plurality of tails fastened with Velcro(R) binders. The present invention uses mechanical, rather than elastic, compression. Mechanical loads are carried over the iliac crest, by hooking the tails of the binder over the iliac crest and then bifurcating the tails for attachment to the abdominal portion of the binder. The present invention provides support of lower abdominal tissue, especially near the genitals and in the area of the peritoneum. The invention is also a method of preventing post-operative wound infection, reducing incidence of seroma and hematoma formation and wound separation while reducing pain and the need for pain medication by passing a relatively inelastic abdominal binder over the patient's iliac crest and abdomen to place the binder in tension so as to provide a greater than 180 degree radius of compression to the wound.

A nursing bra pad has a concave, cup-shape formed from a rounded section of multi-layer composite textile having a first, skin contact layer formed from a non-shearing, moisture vapor permeable woven fabric of synthetic filament yarns. A second layer and optional third layer are formed from moisture absorbing and retaining fabrics. The second layer is a breathable fabric that draws moisture from the inner to the outer surface of the fabric. The optional third microfiber layer provides moisture retention and may be positioned between the first layer and the second layer or between the second and fourth layers. The fourth layer, which may optionally be coated with polyurethane, is formed from a breathable, waterproof fabric woven from synthetic yarn to allow moisture vapor transfer away from the skin. The three or four layers are stitched together along their edges. The layers are stitched to generally conform to the shape of the breast.

The malleolar pad of preferred embodiments of the present invention provides a treating physician with the ability to monitor pressure at a wound site, adjust the pressure to more accurately treat and facilitate healing of, for example, a pressure ulcer while providing adequate wound care. Pressure ulcers can have varied presentations with respect to open sores and the location of the wound. Thus, proper fixation methods provided by monitoring the pressure measurement devices which allow adjustment of the compressive forces applied by the malleolar pad provide rewarding outcomes for the patient and the physician.
