A spinal implant may be used to stabilize a portion of a spine. The implant may promote bone growth between adjacent vertebrae that fuses the vertebrae together. An implant may include an opening through a height of a body of the implant. The body of the implant may include curved sides. A top and/or a bottom of the implant may include protrusions that contact and/or engage vertebral surfaces to prevent backout of the implant from the disc space. A variety of instruments may be used to prepare a disc space and insert an implant. The instruments may include, but are not limited to, a distractor, a rasp, and one or more guides. The implant and instruments may be supplied in an instrument kit.

A method and apparatus for performing a minimally invasive total hip arthroplasty. An approximately 3.75-5 centimeter (1.5-2 inch) anterior incision is made in line with the femoral neck. The femoral neck is severed from the femoral shaft and removed through the anterior incision. The acetabulum is prepared for receiving an acetabular cup through the anterior incision and the acetabular cup is placed into the acetabulum through the anterior incision. A posterior incision of approximately 2-3 centimeters (0.8-1.2 inches) is generally aligned with the axis of the femoral shaft and provides access to the femoral shaft. Preparation of the femoral shaft including the reaming and rasping thereof is performed through the posterior incision, and the femoral stem is inserted through the posterior incision for implantation in the femur. A combination tool for measuring and cutting materials such as drywall is disclosed. The tool includes a mount formed by first and second housing portions, the first and second housing portions defining a path terminating at an opening at one end of the mount. A tape measure blade receiving slot opens into the mount adjacent to the path and is located and oriented so that the slot and the path are substantially coplanar. A knife blade shuttle is movable along the path and a saw blade is pivotably connected in the mount. Devices, implements and methods are provided for performing trapezioplasty of the osteoarthritic trapezium. Once a palmar osteophyte has been removed from the trapezium bone, a trapezial rasp is used to shape the central portion of the trapezium bone into an initial saddle shape. A contouring tool having a double curvature reverse saddle shape is used to contour the trapezium bone into a final, smooth saddle shape.

A meniscal allograft with a bone block having a trapezoidal shape in cross-section and a technique for using a meniscus allograft having a trapezoidal shaped bone block are disclosed. A groove is formed initially in the bone using drill bits. Dilators are used to increase the size of the drilled groove. The orthogonal corner at the bottom of the groove is shaped using a rasp. An apparatus for distracting a disc space having an annulus. The apparatus includes a spinal implant having a pre-determined size sufficient to balance frictional fit in the disc space and elongation of the annulus. The implant has a top surface, a bottom surface, opposing lateral sides, and opposing anterior and posterior portions defining a substantially hollow center and a single vertical aperture. At least one of the opposing anterior and posterior portions presents a substantially flat impact face including an opening with an instrument retention feature. The apparatus also includes a rasp, a plurality of distractors, and an instrument able to engage and manipulate the spinal implant, the rasp, and the plurality of distractors. The size-specific rasp is adapted to clear the disc space of all soft tissue and cartilage. The plurality of distractors have progressively increasing heights adapted to distract the disc space before use of the spinal implant.

A tire buffer for buffing a tire casing as part of a retread operation can include a rasp pedestal having a rasp head and a texturing device. The control unit can monitor an operating parameter of the rasp pedestal or the tire hub assembly during the buffing sequence, compare the actual value of the operating parameter to a predetermined target value of the parameter, and adjust an operating characteristic of the rasp pedestal, the tire hub assembly, or both such that the actual value of the operating parameter is urged toward the calculated target value of the operating parameter.

An apparatus and method are disclosed for release of a tendon sheath using a rasp tool and an endoscopic cutting tool. The rasp tool has a body supporting a probe with a rasp surface at one end of the probe for removing soft tissue adhering to the tendon sheath after insertion of the probe into a pocket formed above the tendon sheath. The body, rasp probe and rasp surface are formed in one piece and may be mounted removably on an endoscope. The endoscopic cutting tool has a probe with a blade at one end, the blade being extendable by operation of a trigger after insertion of the probe into the pocket, the blade being operable to cut the tendon sheath by pulling the tool out of the pocket with the blade extended. The trigger is part of a pistol grip assembly that is mounted on the cutting blade probe and endoscope so that it can be rotated about the axis of the cutting blade probe. The endoscope illumination can be provided with ultraviolet light to make visible objects not visible otherwise.

The present invention comprises a removable cover plate assembly, which may be quickly attached, detached and adjusted to the exterior of a concave grate of a combine harvester in order to adjust the flow characteristics of the concave or separator grate assemblies. The cover plate assembly improves the threshing capability of the rasp bar threshing cylinder while simultaneously capturing additional threshed grain. Moreover, the cover plate assembly of the present invention enables a single set of concave grate assemblies to better harvest a wider variety of crop types.

An improved concave rasp that can be used to smooth any concave surface, such as under a hoof, having a handle approximately perpendicularly affixed at about the middle of a rasp that is convex both along its length and in cross section. The underside of the rasp has a rounded end, thus being suitable for applying pressure there against. Another embodiment of the invention is an improved tooth design, comprising a tooth blade, rather than individual teeth, thus providing much increased biting edge with increased durability.
