The invention relates to water-soluble urea-formaldehyde glue and a preparation method thereof as well as a method for improving strength of water-soluble compound fertilizer granule by the water-soluble urea-formaldehyde glue. The water-soluble urea-formaldehyde glue consists of the following raw material components in parts by weight: 600-800 parts of 37wt% formaldehyde water soluble, 250-400 parts of urea, 1-5 parts of melamine, 1-5 parts of phthalic anhydride, 1-5 parts of sodium hydroxide solution and 15-30 parts of starch. The method for improving the strength of the water-soluble compound fertilizer granule by the water-soluble urea-formaldehyde glue comprises the following steps: in a process of preparing the water-soluble compound fertilizer by an aggregating process, after processes of pelleting, drying and sieving and before a cooling process, spraying the water-soluble urea-formaldehyde glue on the surface of the fertilizer granule. The water-soluble urea-formaldehyde glue disclosed by the invention is low in cost and simple in preparation method; and, after implementing a surface treatment on the water-soluble compound fertilizer granule, the strength of the fertilizer granule is remarkably improved to more than 20N under a precondition of guaranteeing a controlled-release effect, so that the water-soluble urea-formaldehyde glue can completely meet the demand of spouted bed coating.
