The whitewash comprises the following components in percentage by mass: 30-50% of water-based epoxy modified acrylic resin, 5-10% of amino resin, 40-60% of titanium dioxide slurry, 5-20% of dipropylene glycol methyl ether and 0.1-0.3% of an adhesion promoter, wherein the titanium dioxide slurry comprises 20-30% of water, 0.1-1.3% of a wetting dispersant and 0.2-0.3% of a defoamer as well as the balance of titanium dioxide. The whitewash provided by the invention is crosslinked and cured through the water-based epoxy modified acrylic resin and the amino resin with a certain amount of an assistant and white slurry to obtain the water-based externally coated metal printing whitewash which is good in adhesive force, strength and machinability. The production cost is lowered, and meanwhile, the water-based epoxy modified acrylic resin is low in content of volatile organic compounds, low in toxicity, less in atmospheric pollution and beneficial for environmental protection.
