42 results about "Network protector" patented technology

A network protector is a type of electric protective device used in electricity distribution systems. The network protector automatically disconnect its associated distribution transformer from the secondary network when the power starts flowing in reverse direction. Network protectors are used on both spot networks and grid networks. The secondary grid system improves continuity of service for customers, since multiple sources are available to supply the load; a fault with any one supply is automatically isolated by the network protector and does not interrupt service from the other sources. Secondary grids are often used in downtown areas of cities where there are many customers in a small area.

Positive locking, trigger grip, external operating handle assembly for network protector enclosures

A handle assembly for a network protector where the network protector includes a circuit breaker and a housing assembly, the circuit breaker having a trip bar structured to move between a first position and a second position corresponding to an open and closed position of the circuit breaker, respectively, the housing assembly having a sidewall with an opening. The handle assembly includes a linkage assembly, a shaft assembly, a handle member and locking assembly. The shaft assembly has a shaft, where the shaft rotatably is disposed in the opening and structured to move between a first and second position. The handle member has an elongated body and an elongated grip extending generally perpendicular to the handle body. The handle body is coupled to, and structured to rotate, the shaft. The locking assembly has an elongated release grip. The locking assembly is coupled to the handle member and structured to selectively lock the shaft in at least the first position, and the release grip is structured to unlock the locking assembly. The release grip extends generally adjacent and parallel to the handle grip. The linkage assembly is coupled to the shaft and structured to engage the trip bar so that when the shaft is in the first position, the trip bar is in the first position and when the shaft is in the second position, the trip bar is in the second position.

Apparatus for isolating a network protector in an electric power distribution network

In an electric power distribution network power is provided via high voltage cables carrying large secondary distribution currents which are connected to various electrical components such as transformers and network protectors which detect and accommodate secondary network power flow and problems such as network component malfunctioning or failure, and dangerous operating conditions such as an out of phase current status within the three or four high voltage primary power conducting cables arranged in parallel to share the load. network protectors address, among other things, a voltage out of phase situation in the cables which can lead to dangerous interruption conditions and result in damage to, or destruction of, the power distribution network and safety to the general public. The present invention addresses the problems associated with a faulty or failed network protector which permits continuous reversal in the direction of power (current) flow. Isolation of the problem network protector is achieved by transferring its load to associated network protectors on the secondary network to allow for safe servicing, or removal and replacement, of the hung-up network protector. The inventive electric network protector protection system automatically accommodates either 120 volt or 277 volt network systems, and further contemplates an arrangement for safely and securely connecting the network protector isolator's bus bar to a temporary power cable connected to contactors which can isolate a defective network protector from its associated network transformer.
