A satellite TV security system including a TV satellite operated by a satellite TV provider directed to a television set of a satellite TV subscriber that defends the satellite TV provider from illegal reception of TV signals from a TV satellite. An addressable integrated receiver/decoder (IRD) positioned in the TV set top box has an assigned identification number and a smart card positioned in the IRD has an assigned identification number. A security module is provided that is integrated with the IRD. Upon command of the satellite TV provider or automatically, the security module makes a periodic verification of a match of the two identification numbers. Lack of verification of a match triggers a signal from the security module to the IRD to stop transmitting TV signals to the subscriber television. As an alternative verification, the security module initiates periodic verifications of the operability of the telephone line connection between the satellite TV provider and the IRD of the subscriber. Lack of verification of the operability of the telephone line triggers a signal from the security module to the IRD to stop transmitting TV signals to the subscriber TV. The two systems of verification can be operated independently or simultaneously. The subscriber telephone number can be added as an assigned identification number, so that a three-way verification of identification numbers by the security module is required for continued transmission of TV signals to the subscriber television.

The compiled business data and the script are streamed to a receiver for generating video information for a user's television, wherein the receiver uses the script to access the compiled business data and generate a presentation of the data for the user. The receiver can be a set-top box for use with a cable television provider, a terrestrial television provider or a satellite television provider. The business data can be compatible with a version of XML (extensible markup language). The business data can be referenced within script created using an authoring tool without the instances of the business data being present at the time of authoring. The compiling can be configured to improve the access speed of the receiver to the business data and to reduce a memory footprint of the business data on the receiver. The business data can be updated and recompiled without requiring the application to be re-authored manually.

The diplexer (212) filters the combined radio frequency signal to select the other signal and couple the other signal to the first output (142) and filters the combined radio frequency signal to select the digital terrestrial broadcast television signal and couple it to the second output (143). The other signals include a cable television signal, a satellite television signal, and / or a high definition satellite television signal. The modular housing includes power connections (431) that are relatively shorter in length than the ground connections (432) so that during removal of the removable radio frequency tuner (340) the power connections (431) decouple from the consumer premise component (320) before the ground connections (432) and during insertion the ground connections (432) make contact before the power connections.
