The invention provides a liquid crystal composition and its application. The liquid crystal composition comprises: at least one compound of general formula I accounting for 1-20% of the total weight of the liquid crystal composition; accounting for 25% of the total weight of the liquid crystal composition -80% of at least one compound selected from the group of general formula II-1, II-2, II-3, II-4 and combinations thereof; and at least 20-75% of the total weight of the liquid crystal composition A compound selected from the group consisting of general formulas III-1, III-2, III-3, III-4 and combinations thereof. The liquid crystal composition of the present invention has suitable optical anisotropy, relatively high clearing point, relatively large negative dielectric anisotropy, low viscosity and high reliability, is suitable for liquid crystal displays, and satisfies the demand for fast response of liquid crystal displays . The present invention also provides a compound according to the general formula I-2.
