The invention relates to a hygroscopic shell fabric with a flame-retardant function and a good heat insulation effect. The shell fabric comprises an upper cotton fabric layer (1) and a lower cotton fabric layer (2), wherein a base layer (5) is laminated on the upper cotton fabric layer, a hygroscopic layer (3) is further arranged between the upper cotton fabric layer and the lower cotton fabric layer and is formed through co-spinning and weaving polyester fibers (3.1) and polyamide fibers (3.2), the polyamide fiber cross section (3.2.1) of the polyamide fibers is of a pentagram, a groove (3.2.2) is formed between every two adjacent angles of the pentagram, and the surface of the upper cotton fabric layer (1) is coated with a flame-retardant coating layer (4). The base layer is made from a fabric, the fabric is made from warps and wefts through interweaving, the warps and the wefts are of hollow structures, and through holes are formed in the centers of the warps and the centers of the wefts along axes. The shell fabric is relatively low in cost and good in air permeability. According to the hygroscopic shell fabric, due to the hollow structure of yarn, the fabric can have enough air content, heat of human bodies is prevented from diffusing outwards, and thus, the heat insulation effect is good.
