Under stirring, the water bath is heated to reflux. After all is dissolved, 40 mL of potassium hydroxide (0.25 mol) of ethanol aqueous solution (by volume ratio, ethanol: water = 1:1) is slowly added dropwise. After the dropping, the reaction was continued for 4 hours. Stop the reaction and filter with suction while hot to obtain a white solid. After drying, recrystallize with 1,2-dichloroethane to obtain white flaky crystals, namely 4-cyano-4′-(6-bromohexyloxy)biphenyl .
