Its aim is to automate the resource and connection management within the network. The IETF defines ASON as an alternative/supplement to NMS based connection management.

Method for interconnecting automatic switch optical network with traditional optical network

The invention discloses an intercommunicating method between an automatically switched optical network and a traditional optical network, which comprises the following steps: a device domain of the traditional optical network is abstracted as a virtual node, and sending resources of the virtual node, that are corresponding to the device domain of the traditional optical network, are obtained; a control node is configured in a control plane and taken as a mapping of the virtual node in the control plane, and a network administration system is used for configuring the sending resources of the virtual node for the control node and deriving links for penetrating the virtual node according to the sending resources; and when a connection that is used for penetrating the device domain of the traditional optical network is built, the control plane can be used for realizing the integrated control of the whole network including the traditional optical network and the automatically switched optical network in the way of the automatically switched optical network. The intercommunicating method of the invention completely utilizes the control capacity of the ASON, lowers the complexity of network operation and management, and improves the intelligent property of the whole network.

A maintenance method upon service alarm generation in automatic switching optical network system

The invention discloses a method for maintenance during the occurrence of alarms arising from services in an ASON system, which includes that: after a service is established successfully, a head node sets its own alarm surveillance and respectively requires a middle node and an end node to set alarm surveillances thereof; the middle node and the end node set respective alarm surveillance according to the requests of the head node; when alarms happen to the middle node and/or the end node, the alarm information affecting the service is notified to the head node; the head node institutes service maintenance strategies for the service according to the received alarm information, the alarm information from the head node and the protection and recovering strategies prearranged by the head node, and notified the end node of the service maintenance strategies; at last, the head node and the end node carry out related maintenance operation in line with the service maintenance strategies. Through peer-to-peer communications by information notification between any nodes of the service, the invention reaches the targets of transmitting alarm information quickly, reducing interruption or intermittent interruption of the service and reducing opportunities of remnant connections of transmission resources.
