On-Demand Routing ("ODR") is an enhancement to Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP), a protocol used to discover other Cisco devices on either broadcast or non-broadcast media. With the help of CDP, it is possible to find the device type, the IP address, the Cisco IOS version running on the neighbor Cisco device, the capabilities of the neighbor device, and so on. In Cisco IOS software release 11.2, ODR was added to CDP to advertise the connected IP prefix of a stub router via CDP. This feature takes an extra five bytes for each network or subnet, four Bytes for the IP address, and one byte to advertise the subnet mask along with the IP. ODR is able to carry Variable Length Subnet Mask (VLSM) information.

The invention discloses a dynamic maintenance method for the demand-driven routing in a multi-hop wireless ad hoc network. The method essentially comprises a master route setting up process, a stand-by route setting up process and a route maintenance process; first, the master route is set up in a demand-driven routing manner; then the stand-by route is set up in a specified range, and the change of the stand-by route is updated timely. The route maintenance process comprises two sections, wherein, the first section is that when the stand-by route is invalid, an invalid stand-by node is detected and a message on the failure of the stand-by route is sent out; the second session is that when the master route is invalid, dynamic maintenance is carried out to the master route. In the method of the invention, the establishing of the stand-by route and the interaction of route information are limited in the range of the hop of a major node, thus reducing communication consumption, being capable of rapidly responding when a link of the master route is invalid (for instance, node movement causes the invalidation of the link) or a node of the master route is invalid (for instance, the energy of the node is run out) and guaranteeing the stability and reliability of communication without increasing the time delay of a business.

The invention relates to a reliable routing method in the context of a mobile Ad hoc network. The method aims to improve effectiveness of data transmission, takes combination of link stability and route selection as the core concept and solves the problem of reliable routing in the context of the Ad hoc network. In the method, data link layer design is closely linked with network layer design; the data link layer generates the newest link stability information for each node according to a link stability model; the network layer configures a link stability form according to the information; the nodes establish routings according to needs when needing to transmit data; the network layer takes the link stability form as a basis, the link stability as a standard for weighing on route selection to establish a reliable routing between the source nodes and the target nodes; a redundancy link is established for unstable links in routing paths to further improve reliability of the routing; advantages of active routing protocol and source-initiated protocol are integrated, routing reliability is ensured in that the link stability form needs to be updated in time; routing information in the routing form only needs to be updated when transmission begins, thus reducing extra expenditure for information control.

Local routing discovering method for on-demand routing of mobile ad hoc network

The invention discloses a method for detecting a local route of an on-demand route inside a mobile ad hoc network. An intermediate node near the route receives a data massage on a sharing wireless channel and records the least hop number of the arrived nodes according to the head information of the data information; a message for requesting to detect the route is only transferred in an area near the previous interrupted route; then the message for requesting to detect the route is transmitted along the arrived nodes with decreased hop number; when the message for requesting to detect the route arrives the destination node, a unicasting transmission route of the destination node detects that a response message arrives a source node, thus finishing the establishing course from the source node to the destination node. The invention is applicable for the course of detecting the route in the on-demand route inside the mobile ad hoc network, so as to decrease the transmission times and scope of the route detecting message in the network, decrease the network expenditure in the course of route detecting, lower the possibility of collision in the transmission course of the data message, reduce the transmission delay of the data message and increase the success rate of transmission for the data message.

The invention discloses a load-balance-based satellite network on-demand routing method, which mainly solve the problem of unbalanced traffic load in the conventional satellite network. The load-balance-based satellite network on-demand routing method comprises the following steps that: when a source node sends data, the minimum rectangular region of a routing request is limited according to orientations of the source node and a target node; the source node sends a routing request (RREQ) packet to an intermediate node in the minimum rectangular region; when receiving the RREQ packet for the first time, the intermediate node starts a node load judgment mechanism and selectively forwards the RREQ packet according to a judgment result; when the intermediate node forwards the RREQ packet, theRREQ packet is forwarded to a node with the consistent direction with the target node; the target node replies a routing response (RREP) packet to a route with the minimum load value from the received RREQ packet in a delayed response mode; and after receiving the RREP packet, the source node starts to send data so as to complete the route discovery process. Compared with a method employing the conventional routing protocol, the load-balance-based satellite network on-demand routing method has the advantages that: the accurate traffic load balance of the satellite network can be realized; andthe cost of a network route is reduced.
