Utilizing cash flow contracts and physical collateral for energy-related clearing and credit enhancement platforms

In accordance with the present invention, a financial instrument for the energy market is created. The financial instrument comprises a derivative instrument related to accounts receivable or accounts payable or both. In a preferred embodiment, the derivative instrument normally consists of two sets of linked swaps. In the first set, the seller exchanges two things with a third party: (i) the right for payment of accounts receivable within a month from the buyer is exchanged for the right to payment of such accounts receivable within a week from the third party; and (ii) the obligation to deliver energy to the buyer is exchanged for the obligation to deliver to the third party. The buyer exchanges the mirror image of those with a third party, to wit: (i) the obligation to pay within a month to the seller is exchanged for the obligation to pay within a week to the third party, but the buyer receives financing to offset the cash flow ramifications; and (ii) the obligation to take delivery from the seller is exchanged with the obligation to take delivery from the third party. The swap can further be utilized to net payment obligations under multiple cash and forward commodity transactions between the buyer and the seller. Physical collateral is utilized as margin. In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, the process takes place on a ‘clearing platform’ for such energy transactions.

Vehicular pneumatic tire and process of making vehicular pneumatic tire

Vehicular pneumatic tire having an asymmetric tread formed in relation to a circumference of a running surface and process of making vehicular pneumatic tire. The vehicular pneumatic tire includes an outside region that includes an outside shoulder block row and an outside circumferential groove, an inside region that includes an inside shoulder block row and an inside circumferential groove, and a center region that is laterally delimited by the outside circumferential groove and the inside circumferential groove. A plurality of transverse grooves are arranged within the inside shoulder block row, and the plurality of transverse grooves further are arranged to extend into the center region. No more than about one-half of the plurality of transverse grooves are arranged to at least nearly entirely traverse the center region and are oriented to form an angle to a circumferential equator line of no more than approximately 30° over at least one-third of their longitudinal extensions. The process includes forming an outside region to include an outside shoulder block row and an outside circumferential groove, forming an inside region to include an inside shoulder block row and an inside circumferential groove, and laterally delimiting a center region with the outside circumferential groove and the inside circumferential groove. The process further includes arranging a plurality of transverse grooves within the inside shoulder block row and to extend into the center region. No more than one half of the plurality of transverse grooves are arranged to at least nearly entirely traverse the center region and are oriented to form an angle to a circumferential equator line of no more than approximately 30° over at least one-third of their longitudinal extensions.

Pavement marking article and raised pavement marker that uses pressure sensitive adhesive

InactiveUS6861141B2Avoids negative environmental impactAvoid impactFilm/foil adhesivesPaving detailsShear modulusAlcohol
A pavement marking article that has an adhesive composition for adhering the article to a pavement substrate, where the adhesive composition includes a reaction product of an acrylic acid ester of a monohydric alcohol whose homopolymer has a Tg less than 0° C., a non-polar ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and 0-10 parts by weight of a polar ethylenically unsaturated monomer. Preferably the amount of the acrylic acid ester is about 60-90 parts by weight, and the amount of the non-polar ethylenically unsaturated monomer is about 10-40 parts by weight.
Also, a raised pavement marker that comprises:
    • (a) a pavement marker body having upper and lower surfaces and an apparent flexural modulus of at least about 50,000 psi and
    • (b) a pressure sensitive adhesive layer disposed upon the lower surface of the marker, wherein the adhesive has:
      • (i) a transition region that begins at a frequency of about 10,000 radians/s or more and extends to a frequency of about 100 radians/s or less at about 25° C.; and
      • (ii) a minimum shear modulus of about 1×105 Pa at an impact frequency of about 100 radians/s at 25° C.; and
      • (iii) a shear modulus value of about 2×104 to 2×105 Pa at a frequency of 1 rad/sec at 25° C.
Raised pavement markers that use a pressure sensitive adhesive meeting parameters (i)-(iii) can demonstrate good adhesion to roadways and are capable of withstanding repeated impacts from motor vehicle tires.
