The method includes following steps: (1) preparing an impurity removing agent by uniformly mixing sodium hydroxide and sodium alkylbenzenesulfonate according to 1:1; (2) adding 50 parts by weight of the ammonium nitrate to 20-25 parts by weight of water, and adding 50 parts by weight of potassium chloride when the ammonium nitrate is dissolved completely, heating the liquid to 100 DEG C, and stopping heating to obtain a liquid material; (3) placing 0.1 parts of the impurity removing agent in a reaction tank, adding the liquid material, and performing naturally crystallization, wherein potassium nitrate and ammonium chloride are completely separated out when the temperature is decreased to 15-20 DEG C; and (4) discharging the liquid, wherein the ammonium chloride floated on liquid level is also discharged with the liquid, adding water to washing the potassium nitrate deposited at the bottom of the reaction tank for one time, draining the potassium nitrate, drying the potassium nitrate until the potassium nitrate is not hand-sticky to obtain the potassium nitrate.
