Materials needed by the method comprise metal net cages, cobs, gravels, fixing frames and wetland plants. Firstly, according to the water depth of the riparian zone, the metal net cages and the angle iron fixing frames are customized; the fixing frames are fixed to a hard vertical bank wall through expansion bolts every 1 m, and then the metal net cages are hung on the wall through fasteners; the metal net cages are filled with the bought cobs, the filling cobs are 70 cm high until the cobs are away from the top of the corresponding metal net cage by 30 cm, and then the metal net cages are filled with the gravels which are 30 cm thick; and finally the selected wetland plants are planted on the surface layer of each metal net cage. The ecological revetment is easy to mount and high in construction speed, the original river bank is not damaged, and nitrogen and phosphorus elements in water bodies are well purified; the constructed revetment has beautiful landscape and is suitable for remediation of the ecological function of hard vertical banks of water bodies such as urban rivers and lakes.
