The preparation methodof the copolyester comprises the following steps: mainly taking dihydric alcohol and dicarboxylic acid monomers in the ratio of (1.1-1.8): 1.0 as raw materials, adding a catalyst and a heat stabilizer and carrying out an esterification reaction at the temperature of 200 to 250 DEG C and under the pressure of 0-0.3MPa; after the esterification reaction is finished, adding sodium glycol isophthalate-5-sulfonate or dimethyl isophthalate-5-sulfonate under normal pressure, stirring for 10min, carrying out polycondensation at the kettle temperature of 260 to 280 DEG C under the pressure less than 100Pa, judging the discharge time according to changes of the stirring power, finally obtaining the copolyester having certain intrinsic viscosity.
