Data frame routing method and network bridge

A method operates at the data link level. Each bridge associates, during a guard time, the port through which a frame is first received with a source MAC address until a unicast reply frame confirms the matching two-way path between the source and destination addresses. Any frame from the same source received through another different port is discarded. Each bridge forwards the received broadcast frames through the rest of the ports, except those involving prohibited (down-up) turns, and deviates (or optionally returns) the unicast frames with an unknown or aged destination address through the spanning tree. The protocol can operate with encapsulation in the border bridges or without encapsulation, using in this case the replacement of universal MAC addresses in the border bridges with local MAC addresses. The establishment and control of paths can optionally be performed proactively by the border bridges, especially the bridges connected to servers.

Burst switching in a high capacity network

At a master controller of a space switch in a node in a data network, a request is received from a source node that requests a connection to be established through the space switch. This request is compared to other such requests so that a schedule may be established for access to the space switch. The schedule is then sent to the source nodes as well as to a slave controller of the space switch. The source nodes send data bursts which are received at the space switch during a short guard time between successive reconfigurations of the space switch. Data bursts are received at the space switch at a precisely determined instant of time that ensures that the space switch has already reconfigured to provide requested paths for the individual bursts. The scheduling is pipelined and performed in a manner that attempts to reduce mismatch intervals of the occupancy states of input and output ports of the space switch. The method thus allows efficient utilization of the data network resources while ensuring virtually no data loss.

Scanning guard timer

A method and system of background scanning of an evaluated system by a mobile station without missing paging frames on a registered system. The registered system is defined as the system in which the mobile station has registered and will receive pages. The evaluated system is the system from which the mobile station must retrieve parameters (the possibly higher priority system). The various disclosed embodiments use the periodicity of the paging information to set a guard timer that will force the system back to the registered system before the paging information in the next time slot is missed. After receiving the paging information, the mobile station can continue its search and evaluation of base systems. In other words, the guard timer breaks the background scan into smaller segments that are performed between retrievals of paging information.

Terminal preamble sending method in time division duplexing system

The invention discloses a sending method of terminal front in a time division duplexing system. An RACH channel only requires less guard time to reach the coverage area of the RACH channel. The method comprises the following steps: firstly, when a system is configured, determining the total guard time TGT of the random access RACH channel, and dividing a cell into a plurality of circular or annular areas according to the distance between the cell and a base station; secondly, when the front is sent by a terminal, judging the area of the terminal, and determining the front sending time corresponding to the area; and thirdly, sending the front by using the terminal at the determined sending time. By adopting the method, the method for sending the starting point of a preamble at a terminal side is determined according to the position range of the terminal in the cell; and the larger coverage area can be supported under the condition that the total length of the guard time is definite without estimating the distance between the range and the base station accurately.

Method of preventing data collosions in beacon-enabled zigbee system having tree routing scheme

Provided is a method of preventing a data collision that occurs when two or more child nodes simultaneously transmit data to a parent node in a ZigBee network having a tree routing scheme and operating in a beacon mode. In the ZigBee system having the tree routing scheme and operating in the beacon mode, data communication to the parent node is performed in a beacon frame of the parent node. Here, when several child nodes exist under a single parent node, the child nodes transmit data to the parent node at the moment of receiving the beacon of the parent node, so that the data collision may occur when the child nodes simultaneously transmit the data to the parent node in the beacon frame of the parent node. In the method of preventing a data collision, each of the two or more child nodes is set to wait for its guard time (delay time) when transmitting data to the parent node to induce a normal slotted carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance (CSMA-CA) operation. Therefore, the data collision can be prevented.

Method for processing hard handoff in a digital communication system

Method for processing hard handoff to prevent unnecessary frequent hard handoffs using specific parameters after the first handoff is performed. The method includes the steps of establishing a Guard-Time period during which handoff is not performed when a mobile station moves slowly in an area in which the cell coverages of the serving and target base stations are overlapped; and establishing a Guard-Level value so that handoff is performed independent of the Guard-Time if the strength of the radio wave for the moving mobile station is less than the Guard-Level during said Guard-Time. The Guard Time period prevents hard handoff even when a base station controller receives a request for handoff based on information received from the moving mobile station. Although the base station controller prevents the hard handoff dependent on the Guard-Time, the base station controller permits soft handoff and softer handoff to occur normally. The Guard-Time and Guard-Level are set up according to the base station, the base station controller and the characteristics of the coverage area. The Guard-Time is set up by a system-operator and the Guard-Level is used in relation with the value of T-DROP.

Radio transmitting apparatus and radio transmitting method

A radio transmitting apparatus and a radio transmitting method wherein the increase of the guard time in a random access region is reduced to secure the data transmitting region of an upstream line. In this apparatus, when a received signal power estimated by a received signal power estimating part (205) is the higher, a RACH format selecting part (206) selects a RACH format having the longer frame length. Contrarily, when a received signal power estimated by the received signal power estimating part (205) is the lower, the RACH format selecting part (206) selects a RACH format having the shorter frame length. A RACH data part arranging part (207) appropriately selects, in accordance with the selected RACH format, top-priority information, such as terminal identifiers, priority information, such as connection request information or band assignment request information, and non-priority information and arranges RACH data parts.

Frequency division multiplexing system with selectable rate

An OFDM system uses a normal mode which has a symbol length T, a guard time TG and a set of N sub-carriers, which are orthogonal over the time T, and one or more fallback modes which have symbol lengths KT and guard times KTG where K is an integer greater than unity. The same set of N sub-carriers is used for the fallback modes as for the normal mode. Since the same set of sub-carriers is used, the overall bandwidth is substantially constant, so alias filtering does not need to be adaptive. The Fourier transform operations are the same as for the normal mode. Thus fallback modes are provided with little hardware cost. In the fallback modes the increased guard time provides better delay spread tolerance and the increased symbol length provides improved signal to noise performance, and thus increased range, at the cost of reduced data rate.
