A pilot light is a small gas flame, usually natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas, which serves as an ignition source for a more powerful gas burner. Originally, a pilot light was kept permanently alight; however, this is wasteful of gas. Now it is more common to light a burner electrically, but gas pilot lights are still used when a high energy ignition source is necessary, as in when lighting a large burner.

A core body temperature is measured by two sensors, where the first contact sensor positioned on a resilient ear plug and the second sensor is on the external portion of the probe. The ear plug changes it's geometry after being inserted into an ear canal and compress both the first temperature sensor and the optical assembly against ear canal walls. The second temperature sensor provides a reference signal to a heater that is warmed up close to the body core temperature. The heater is connected to a common heat equalizer for the temperature sensor and the pulse oximeter. Temperature of the heat equalizer enhances the tissue perfusion to improve the optical sensors response. A pilot light is conducted to the ear canal via a contact illuminator, while a light transparent ear plug conducts the reflected lights back to the light detector.

An electrically operated scented wax holder that forms a receptacle for receiving unmelted blocks of wax which are heated to the melting point and thereafter maintained at a safe temperature by a temperature-regulated electrical heating element. The wax receptacle is removable mounted on a base section that houses a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistor which has a transition temperature substantially higher than the melting point of the wax to insure that the wax is rapidly melted, but substantially below the temperature that would constitute a danger to a human who might touch the exterior surface of the warmer, or constitute a fire hazard. The heating element is preferably placed in thermal contact with a contact pad having high thermal conductivity that is in turn placed closely adjacent to the wax receptacle, thereby efficiently transferring heat from the electrically operated temperature regulated heating element to the wax in the receptacle. A switch is positioned to de-energize the heating element whenever the wax receptacle is removed from the base section, and a visible pilot light is illuminated whenever the heating element is energized.

The grill is designed so that it can be tilted onto its side to allow the legs to be folded into a recess beneath the firebox without the cook top, burners and radiant guard unit moving out of position. The pilot light system includes a pilot runner tube that allows individual burners to be turned on and off with out the need for an outside ignition source. The firebox is designed so that several grills can be stacked so that the space needed for storage and transportation is greatly reduced.

Method and system for pilot light safety

A gas valve includes a gas inlet in fluid communication with a first chamber, a second chamber in selective fluid communication with the first chamber, a gas outlet in selective fluid communication with the second chamber, a pilot light outlet in fluid communication with the second chamber, and a bypass channel in fluid communication with the second chamber and in fluid communication with the first chamber. The bypass channel limits bypass gas flow to an amount that is insufficient to ignite a pilot flame at the pilot light outlet when the second channel is in fluid communication with the gas outlet.
