Method of simultaneously forming magnetic transition patterns of a dual side recording medium

A method of simultaneously forming magnetic transition patterns in both side surfaces of a dual-sided magnetic or magneto-optical (MO) recording medium comprises steps of:
(a) providing a dual-sided magnetic or MO recording medium having first and second opposing side surfaces;
(b) providing a first magnetic stamper/imprinter having a first topographically patterned imprinting surface comprising a plurality of projections and depressions arranged in a first pattern corresponding to a first magnetic transition pattern to be formed in the first side surface;
(c) providing a second magnetic stamper/imprinter having a second topographically patterned imprinting surface comprising a plurality of projections and depressions arranged in a second pattern corresponding to a second magnetic transition pattern to be formed in the second side surface, the second magnetic stamper/imprinter being formed from the first magnetic stamper/imprinter in a “mother”/“son” relationship;
(d) contacting the first side surface with the first topographically patterned imprinting surface of the first magnetic stamper/imprinter;
(e) contacting the second side surface with the second topographically patterned imprinting surface of the second magnetic stamper/imprinter; and
(f) simultaneously forming magnetic transition patterns in both side surfaces of the medium by contact printing.

Data card with a full circular track for alignment and amplitude calibration

This invention discloses a flat data storage medium that includes a plurality of substantially parallel data arc-segments. The data arcs further include at least one full circle data track provided for obtaining a measurement of an average amplitude of data signals over the full circle data track for calibrating a pickup head implemented for reading data from the data arc-segments. This invention further discloses a data storage system for accessing data stored in a data storage medium. The data storage system includes dynamic head loading/unloading system that includes a handle for pushing a linkage connected to the handle for loading and unloading the data storage medium to an engaged and disengaged positions relative to a pickup head for accessing data disposed on the data storage medium. The dynamic head loading/unloading system further includes a locking mechanism for automatically locking the data storage medium inside the data storage system when the linkage is disposed at an engaged-position. The dynamic head loading/unloading system further includes a data-storage medium orientation-selection for cooperating and adapting the data storage medium inside the data storage system only when the data storage medium is inserted into the data storage system in a predefined orientation.

Magnetic recording medium and magnetic recording medium manufacturing method

The magnetic recording medium of the present invention has a pattern formed using a pattern-forming agent in a laminate of multiple layers including a base material and a magnetic recoding layer, wherein the pattern is recognized on the surface of the laminate opposite to the base material, and the pattern-forming agent is distributed through the thickness of the laminate, wherein a region between the center of the magnetic recording layer and a magnetic recording-reading side of the laminate has an area having a density gradient of the pattern-forming agent which gradually declines in the direction from the center of the magnetic recording layer to the magnetic recording-reading side.A magnetic recording medium has a picture formed by a picture forming reagent in a layered body formed by a plurality of layers including a basic layer and a magnetic recording layer. The picture can be recognized from a surface of the direction opposite to the basic layer of the layered body. The picture forming reagent is distributed in the film thickness direction and has a region having a concentration gradient gradually decreasing toward the direction of the magnetic recording reading side from the center portion of the magnetic recording layer in the region of the read side from the center portion of the magnetic recording layer in the layered body.

Magnetic recording medium authentication method, magnetic recording medium authentication system, and authenticable magnetic recording medium

Disclosed is a method of authenticating a magnetic recording medium, capable of immediately detecting unauthorized use of a magnetic recording medium by a stranger other than an owner of the magnetic recording medium, and maintaining a degree of compatibility with conventional magnetic recording mediums. In this method, a physical pattern is formed in a recording region adapted to magnetically record basic information thereon, so as to change a magnetic property of the recording region to an extent allowing the basic information to be read from and / or written in the recording region. On the occasion of authentication of the magnetic recording medium, a magnetic characteristic induced by the physical pattern is read from the recording region to generate authentication information in accordance with the magnetic characteristic. Then, the magnetic recording medium is authenticated in accordance with the authentication information. When the basic information on the magnetic recording medium formed with the physical pattern is duly rewritten, new authentication information is re-generated to authenticate the rewritten magnetic recording medium in accordance with the new authentication information.Magnetic card authentication means capable of immediately detecting an unauthorized use or an authorized rewrite of recorded content by a person other than the authorized person and maintaining compatibility with a conventional magnetic card to a certain extent. For this, physical pattern formation is performed by forming a physical pattern in a recording area for changing magnetic characteristic of the recording area within a range enabling read and / or write of basic information magnetically recorded in the recording area. Upon authentication, magnetic characteristic based on the physical pattern is read out from the magnetic recording area. According to this, authentication information is generated and according to the authentication information.
