The invention provides a food-grade formaldehyde scavenger and a preparation method thereof, which are used for solving the technical problems that the formaldehyde scavenger is easy to damage skin, low in deep cleaning efficiency and high in preparation cost, and the formaldehyde scavenger is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 10-25 parts of natural plant extract; 1-2 parts of a penetrant; 1-2 parts of food-grade salt; 5-10 parts of an active factor; 5-10 parts of an active factor retention agent; 3-5 parts of a viscosity modifier; and 60-80 parts of distilled water. The preparation method of the food-grade formaldehyde scavenger comprises the following steps: mixing distilled water and the active factor retaining agent, and adding the natural plant extracting solution, the active factors and the penetrant to obtain an active penetrating fluid; mixing a viscosity regulator, distilled water and food-grade salt to obtain a viscosity regulating solution; and finally, mixing the viscosity adjusting liquid and the active penetrating fluid to obtain the formaldehyde scavenger. The formaldehyde scavenger provided by the invention is safe and environment-friendly, cleans formaldehyde from the source, and has the characteristics of simple process and low manufacturing cost.
