9 results about "Linear medium" patented technology

A linear medium is any medium which is intended to be written to or accessed in a linear fashion, literally meaning in a line. This means that the information is written to or read from the medium in a given order, so for example a book containing a novel is intended to be read from front to back, beginning to end, and is therefore a linear medium. It may be written in the same way, but would not necessarily need to be, to be considered a linear medium. A book containing an encyclopedia however is a non-linear medium, as it is not necessary for the articles to be accessed (or written) in any particular order. Even though both non-linear and linear media have perimeters to which they are restricted, linear media have a set path of how to get from point A to point B, whereas non-linear media do not.

Super ising emulator with multi-body interactions and all-to-all connections

An optical computation system includes a light source configured to produce a pump beam, an optical modulator configured to modulate the pump beam based on the modulation mask to generate a modulated beam, a non-linear medium configured to convert a portion of the modulated beam to a second harmonic (SH) beam and to produce an output including the SH beam and an unconverted portion of the pump beam, and a dichroic mirror configured to receive the output of the non-linear medium and to decouple the SH beam and the unconverted portion of the pump beam, a detector configured to detect a first optical power of the unconverted portion of the pump beam and to detect a second optical power of the SH beam, and a controller configured to generate an updated modulation mask based on the first and second optical powers for transmission to the optical modulator.

Use of steganographically-encoded time information as basis to establish a time offset, to facilitate taking content-related action

A method and system for using steganographically-encoded time information as a basis to control when a client carries out a content-related action. The client processes for presentation one or more linear media streams, each defining a respective time sequence of frames of media content, and at least one of the streams being steganographically encoded with at least one watermark at a respective time-point within the linear media stream, the watermark encoding a timestamp of the respective time-point within the linear media stream according to a server clock. The client extracts the timestamp from the watermark and computes a time offset based on a difference between the extracted timestamp and a current time according to a client clock. And the client uses the computed time offset as a basis to determine when to carry out a content-related action in a given one of the one or more linear media streams.

Non-linear resonant-structure optical transistor operating with single-frequency light wave, and optical system comprising same

PCT designated stageWO2026079619A1Non-linear opticsSignal waveThird harmonic
The present invention relates to a non-linear resonant-structure optical transistor operating at a single frequency, comprising a non-linear medium that amplifies a signal wave through inverse second-harmonic generation or inverse third-harmonic generation interaction with a second-harmonic wave or a third-harmonic wave, and being in an off state in which no output wave is present at a collector when only a pump wave is input into an emitter of the optical transistor, and being in an on state in which a signal wave is amplified and output to the collector when the pump wave is input into the emitter and the signal wave is input into a base, wherein an input wave at the base controls an input wave at the emitter so as to control the on-off state and intensity of the output wave at the collector, thereby simultaneously implementing amplification and switching of the optical signal. In this manner, the present invention provides an optical transistor operating with a single-frequency light wave, and an optical system comprising same.

Superconducting motors and components thereof

An improved system for handling delicate linear media and in particular to a method and apparatus for winding delicate linear media such as superconducting wire or tape or optical fibers onto a spool or former, and electric machines produced thereby. A combination of direct closed loop control and media routing design facilitates the handling of the delicate media without causing damage. The axial tension in the linear media may be closely controlled during winding by means of feedback control loop using tension measurements to control the rotation speeds of the wind-from and wind-to spools. Further, during winding, the delicate linear media is only exposed to large radius bends with no reverse bending. Finally, output devices and features, commercial or otherwise, made possible by delicate linear media handling are revealed. This includes advanced SC devices and features.

Non-linear media segment capture and edit platform

User interface techniques provide user vocalists with mechanisms for forward and backward traversal of audiovisual content, including pitch cues, waveform- or envelope-type performance timelines, lyrics and / or other temporally-synchronized content at record-time, during edits, and / or in playback. Recapture of selected performance portions, coordination of group parts, and overdubbing may all be facilitated. Direct scrolling to arbitrary points in the performance timeline, lyrics, pitch cues and other temporally-synchronized content allows user to conveniently move through a capture or audiovisual edit session. In some cases, a user vocalist may be guided through the performance timeline, lyrics, pitch cues and other temporally-synchronized content in correspondence with group part information such as in a guided short-form capture for a duet. A scrubber allows user vocalists to conveniently move forward and backward through the temporally-synchronized content.

Methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture to identify candidates for media asset qualification

Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture are disclosed to identify candidates for media asset qualification. Example apparatus disclosed herein include a media creditor to determine whether to credit a first media asset to linear media or non-linear media, the non-linear media including subscription video on demand (SVOD). Disclosed example apparatus also include a media asset candidate controller to: classify the first media asset as a non-candidate for media asset qualification in response to the first media asset being credited to the linear media or the non-linear media. In some examples, the media asset candidate controller is to determine whether to classify the first media asset as a candidate for media asset qualification based on whether the first media asset remains uncredited by the media creditor and the first media asset overlaps a streaming period.

Light generating apparatus and method

Methodology of ensuring that a phase-matching condition for non-linear interaction between constituent optical waves interacting with one another in a non-linear medium is satisfied for and at substantially every frequency (or wavelength) of the spectral bandwidths of such optical waves, thereby increasing the efficiency of the non-linear process.

Photoreflectance method and system

PCT designated stageWO2026083406A1Radiation pyrometryAbsorption/flicker/reflection spectroscopyTime domainThz time domain spectroscopy
A system is presented for use in photoreflectance (PR) measurements of a sample. The system comprises a light source system comprising a pump source assembly and a non-linear medium. The pump source assembly produces: an ultra-short seed pulse exciting the non-linear medium presenting a supercontinuum laser generating a broadband probe pulse propagating along a first path towards the sample to create a broadband focal spot on the sample; and an exciting pump pulse propagating along a second path, inclined with respect to the first path, to create an excitation focal spot on the sample. The light source system defines a delay line to controllably vary a time of arrival of the exciting pump pulse to the sample, thereby inducing a controllably variable pump-probe time delay in real time during a PR measurement session, thereby enabling successive time-domain spectroscopic PR measurements of the sample.
