Contoured variably tensionable soft membrane ride surface for ride attraction

A ride surface for water ride attractions and the like is provided. The ride surface is fabricated from a reinforced membrane material tensioned over a supporting framework. The tensioned membrane ride surface serves the dual role of providing structural support for water flow and riders thereon while at the same time providing an impact safe surface that is non-injurious to riders who may fall thereon. The tensioned membrane can be adjusted actively and / or passively in order to accommodate different and varied ride experiences. Optionally, the shape of the membrane ride surface can be changed either dynamically or passively by special tensioning techniques and / or by using auxiliary support structures such as air bladders, pressure / suction, foam supports or / or the like.

Padded water ride surfaces

The present invention relates to an improvement in the construction of water ride surfaces and comprises at least one layer of soft permeable material built into the padded substrate of a structurally supported ride surface. The permeable material connects to a drainage system and is preferably sandwiched between a slick skin upper waterproof membrane, and a supporting substrate beneath it. The advantage to this improvement is when water leaks through the waterproof membrane, the permeable material prevents water from building up inside the padded substrate, and allows the water to be drained out, rather than blistering and bubbling up under the waterproof membrane, thereby helping to preserve the integrity and longevity of the ride surface.

Adjustable sports ramp system

The PRO-RAMP professional adjustable ramp system of this invention comprises a lower horizontal panel, hinged to a second angularly adjustable panel by a vertical plane. Two embodiments are disclosed. In the preferred embodiment the vertical member is adjusted by concentric tubular members and locking in position by a pair of pins through aligned holes. In the alternate embodiment the inside surfaces of the two panels are notched such that there is no possibility of slippage of the vertical pane and thus of accidental collapse of the plane. A variation of alternate embodiment employs a collapsible truss support instead of the vertical plane. The second horizontal plane may be sectionalized into plurality of planes such that a user can experience different gradients in a single ramp.

Apparatus, systems and methods for creating a dynamic riding terrain

Apparatus, systems and methods for creating a dynamic riding terrain for wheeled sports, having a translating cylinder assembly and a flexible riding surface. The assembly includes a cylinder supporting frame, a cylinder having an axis, which is rotationally supported by the cylinder supporting frame, and opposing transition frames extending from the cylinder supporting frame, generally in a direction orthogonal to the cylinder axis. The transition frames have a proximal end adjacent to the cylinder, a distal end adjacent to a support surface when the assembly is placed thereon, and a gliding surface affixed to an upper portion thereof. A dynamic riding terrain is created when the assembly is used in conjunction with a flexible riding surface placed over the assembly and moved, either by a self-contained motor or external forces. The transition frame can be modified to alter the gliding surface profile or the location of the proximal end.

Apparatus for an amusement ride and fall

An amusement ride and fall apparatus includes a track having a discharge point below which there is a substantial drop. A passenger is propelled along the track to the discharge point and discharged therefrom with a horizontal component of motion. The passenger then free falls. An elastic tie having a second first end and free second end connected directly or indirectly to the passenger limits the free fall and, together with the horizontal component of motion imparted to the passenger, causes the passenger to swing and bounce for a period of time at the end of the free fall. At the end of the ride and fall the passenger is released safely. The invention therefore provides a trill similar to that of a bungee jump but with enhancements.
