The invention relates to a multi-language retrieving method which is used in a network searching system. The method includes steps as follows: firstly, a search query character string is input in a first language, then, a language variety which the search query character string belongs to is identified, the search query character string is transmitted to a vocabulary database corresponding to the language variety, database retrieval is performed according to the search query character string and different language varieties, and multiple language character strings which belong to the different language varieties and don't belong to the first language are obtained. If the language character strings cannot be obtained, a plurality of translation engines corresponding to the first language are used for translating the search query character string into character strings in languages excluding the first language, and a message comprising the search query character string and the corresponding language character strings is fed back and stored into the vocabulary database. After the language character strings are obtained, the language character strings are searched with a plurality of search engines corresponding to languages through a network.
