62 results about "Pointer (user interface)" patented technology

In computing, a pointer or mouse cursor (as part of a personal computer WIMP style of interaction) is a symbol or graphical image on the computer monitor or other display device that echoes movements of the pointing device, commonly a mouse, touchpad, or stylus pen. It signals the point where actions of the user take place. It can be used in text-based or graphical user interfaces to select and move other elements. It is distinct from the cursor, which responds to keyboard input. The cursor may also be repositioned using the pointer.

Task window navigation method and system

A method of managing a plurality of windows organized and displayed on the graphical user interface of a computer. At any given time, one of the plurality of windows has a focus on the graphical user interface and a remainder of the windows are at least partly obscured behind the window having the focus. The method begins by displaying a graphical control device on the GUI, The graphical control device preferably has a plurality of identifiers each of which is associated with a given one of the plurality of windows. Thus, the graphical control device may be a slider, with each of the identifiers being a "notch". As the graphical pointer is moved in a predetermined manner relative to the notches, respective windows are selectively positioned at the focus position on the GUI. Thus, the user may easily locate any desired window by traversing the graphical pointer across the slider notches. As each notch is traversed, the window associated therewith is brought into the focus position. This is a fast and simple technique for locating a hidden or partially obscured window on the interface.

Input Device User Interface Enhancements

Some embodiments provide a device, method, system, computer program product and user interface for pointer movement analysis with modal continuous controller conversion. Specifically, some embodiments adapt movements issued from a mouse input device, trackpad, or touchscreen to adjust a position of a UI element. Some embodiments analyze a first set of movements and adapt a subsequent second set of movements to adjust the position of the UI element within a range of UI element positions when the first set of movements satisfies a movement threshold. The movement threshold includes a spiral pattern. In some embodiments, adjusting the position of the UI element includes performing scrolling within a scroll area based on the second set of movements when the first set of movements satisfies the spiral pattern.

Cursor control system with tactile feedback

A cursor control system suitable for interactive use with an application program, and in response to specific conditions associated with the application program, the cursor control system provides tactile feedback that can be felt by the user. In particular, when the cursor or pointer indicates a selectable component of the Graphical User Interface (GUI), the cursor control system will provide tactile feedback to the user. In addition, when a valid selection is made on the GUI, the cursor control system will also provide tactile feedback to the user.

Apparatus and method for pointer drag path operations

An apparatus and method for a graphical user interface allow performing operations simply by dragging a first object over a second object. One or more attributes of the second object are effectively “picked up” by virtue of dragging over the second object. In this manner, the user interface is more friendly, more intuitive, and reduces the number of pointer clicks to implement a particular function, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the user.

A Voice Controlled Cursor

The invention is directed to a voice controlled cursor, location pointer, mouse pointer or the like whereby a user's spoken input or inputs indicative of both a direction and a distance are employed to directly move the cursor from its current position towards a target position on a display of a graphical user interface (GUI) of a computing device. The cursor has a navigational marker associated therewith. In a first step, the marker is moved in response to at least one set of direction and distance indications inputted by a user to the computing device prior to moving the cursor to be co-incident with the marker at its new position. The marker is provided to enable a user to position it at a target position for the cursor prior to moving the cursor to said position.

Field control method and system

The present invention relates to a field control method and system. More particularly the present invention relates to a method for changing the values of a field by use of a virtual slider. A value from a field is displayed on a display device (12). A digit of the value is selected in response to user input from a pointer device (13). The value is changed by the magnitude of the selected digit in response to user input from a pointer device (14). The invention may find particular application in graphical user interface systems. A field control user interface system is disclosed. A method and user interface system for controlling a field and one or more associated fields is also disclosed.

Information processing system, and program and recording medium implementing functions of the system

A user is enabled to easily set processing conditions with simple operations of a pointing device, such as a mouse. When a gesture operation operating a pointer being dragged corresponds to a predetermined operation retained in advance, an information processing device sets processing condition defined in advance correspondingly to the corresponding predetermined operation. For example, a user performs the gesture operation of the pointer on a print setting screen of a figure with the use of the pointing device, such as a mouse. The trace of the pointer is a predetermined operation defined in advance for setting the sheet direction to be horizontal, for example. A graphical user interface processing unit of the information processing system determines that the pointer operation is the horizontal sheet setting and sets the sheet direction to be horizontal in the print processing conditions.

Method for secure data entry in an application

The present invention discloses a method and system for inputting data into an application program. The method may include displaying a graphical user interface (GUI) keyboard in the application, the keyboard including a plurality of identifier keys. The detection module may monitor the position of the pointer of the pointing device associated with the plurality of identifier keys, and detect that the pointer of the pointing device has been placed over one of the plurality of identifier keys for a predetermined period of time, thereby detecting the selection of the identifier key described above. In response to detection of said selection, data associated with the selected identifier key may be generated, and indicative data representative of said generated data may be displayed in the data field.

Control capture method and equipment

The embodiment of the invention discloses a control capture method. The control capture method comprises the steps of acquiring programs in running; detecting a target program selected from the programs in running; loading a target DLL file in a running process of the target program to display a tool main window; when a window handle acquisition operation input through the tool main window is detected, acquiring a window handle of a target window corresponding to the target program and converting the window handle into a Qt pointer; if the Qt pointer is not empty, traversing all sub-controls of the target window according to the Qt pointer and outputting a control list of the target window in the tool main window; when an operation aiming at the target control in the target window is detected, outputting a control attribute of the target control in the tool main window. The embodiment of the invention further discloses control capture equipment. By adopting the control capture method and the control capture equipment, recognition aiming at controls of a graphic user interface program based on Qt can be realized.
