Pyrethrum was a genus of several Old World plants now classified as Chrysanthemum or Tanacetum (e.g., C. coccineum) which are cultivated as ornamentals for their showy flower heads. Pyrethrum continues to be used as a common name for plants formerly included in the genus Pyrethrum. Pyrethrum is also the name of a natural insecticide made from the dried flower heads of Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium and Chrysanthemum coccineum. Its active ingredient are pyrethrins.

The application discloses an environmentally-friendly insect-repelling microcapsule, an environmentally-friendly insect-repelling asphalt additive and a preparation method thereof. The shell material of the environmentally-friendly insect-repelling microcapsule is a composite shell material comprising silicon dioxide / nano-electric jade, and the core material comprises one or more of a pyrethrum compound, a carboxylic acid ester compound, an amide compound and a plant extract; the shell material is loaded with a metal chelate on the surface. The environmentally-friendly insect-repelling microcapsule can not only efficiently and durably repel insects around roads, but also effectively inhibit the amount of pollutants generated by high-temperature action of asphalt in the production, construction and pavement process, thereby providing a new idea for functional utilization of asphalt materials.
