The invention provides a system for suspending poultry through feet in a shackle of a transfer line. The system comprises a supply line having at least one first carrier for poultry, a movable takeover device for receiving legs of poultry and for transferring poultry from the at least one first carrier of the supply line to a shackle in a transfer line at a transfer position, in the transfer position, the shackle, the movable takeover device and the at least one first carrier of the supply line are aligned, where the movable takeover device is arranged to engage the leg of the poultry at the transfer position in order to move the foot above the shackle and then move downward to provide the leg into the shackle, after which the shackle is transferred to the transfer position. The movable takeover device is disengaged from the poultry legs, wherein the system comprises pushing means for pushing the poultry from the at least one first carrier of the supply line to the movable takeover device when the poultry is in the transfer position.

The present invention relates to a method and a system for re-hanging poultry suspended by its head in a first hook of a first hook conveyor to a second hook of a second hook conveyor, in which second hook the poultry is or will be suspended by its legs, wherein the system comprises: a leg positioning unit, which is arranged to support the poultry at the legs while the poultry remains suspended by its head in the first hook of the first hook conveyor; a movable take-up unit, which is designed to operate on the legs of the poultry and is arranged to be operable at least when the leg positioning unit supports the poultry at the legs, and wherein at least the movable take-up unit is movable towards the second hook of the second hook conveyor and is arranged to move the legs of the poultry into the second hook of the second hook conveyor.
