Reduced-Diameter Optical Fiber

Disclosed is a reduced-diameter optical fiber that employs a novel coating system. When combined with a bend-insensitive glass fiber, the novel coating system according to the present invention yields an optical fiber having exceptionally low losses. The coating system features (i) a softer primary coating with excellent low-temperature characteristics to protect against microbending in any environment and in the toughest physical situations and, optionally, (ii) a colored secondary coating possessing enhanced color strength and vividness. The secondary coating provides improved ribbon characteristics for structures that are robust, yet easily entered (i.e., separated and stripped). The optional dual coating is specifically balanced for superior heat stripping in fiber ribbons, with virtually no residue left behind on the glass. This facilitates fast splicing and terminations. The improved coating system provides optical fibers that offer significant advantages for deployment in most, if not all, fiber-to-the-premises (FTTx) systems.

In-Wheel Motor System and Method of Installing the Same

A direct drive motor module has hollow disk-like plates (21, 22) for interconnecting the rotation side of an in-wheel motor (3) and a wheel (2) and a drive force transmission mechanism (20) comprising cross guides (23) for guiding the plates (21, 22) in the vertical direction. To mount the direct drive motor module to the wheel (2), attachment holes (2s) are formed in the spoke portions of the wheel (2), the fixing portions of connection pins (30) having a spherical pin head which is a mating portion are fitted in the attachment holes (2s), guide holes (40) having a predetermined clearance relative to the outer diameter of the pin head (33) are formed in the wheel side plate (22) supporting the wheel (2) sides of the cross guides (23), the pin heads of the connection pins (30) are mated with the guide holes (40), and the direct drive motor module is mounted to the wheel (2). The direct drive motor module can be reliably mounted to the wheel (2) even if assembly accuracy is not so high.

Medical connector

A plug connector for use with a receptacle. The plug connector and receptacle combination may prevent more than one use of the single use plug connector, thereby necessitating disposal of the plug connector and associated, disposable, specialized instrumentation to which the plug connector is connected. The plug connector may be keyed and otherwise identified to the receptacle by shape, tactile indicia and visual indicia so that it cannot be mistakenly used with a different receptacle, while providing proper orientation for rapid assembly. When designed for single use or limited multiple use, the insertion of the plug connector into the receptacle moves a jumper contact in the plug connector from a first position to a second position where it is captured. The receptacle and plug connector may include an interface for a light pipe and a light path that illuminates the plug connector to facilitate assembly and disassembly in areas in which light is limited, such as operating rooms, as well as communicating information to the user.

Shield connector

An inner terminal connected to a terminal of a core wire and provided with an electric connecting portion electrically connected with a mating terminal is received in an inner housing. The inner housing is incorporated into an outer terminal. The outer terminal is mated with a mating connector in such a state as that the shield member is connected to the outer terminal and the electric connecting portion of the inner terminal is positioned in the outer terminal. The outer terminal has the same configuration as that of an outer terminal of the mating connector, thus making the outer terminals sharable between male and female connectors.

Wafer-shaped pilot-type valve

In a pilot-type valve, a valve box enclosing a main valve is flangeless, and the valve box is arranged in a state sandwiched between pipe flanges. In the pilot-type valve that uses a pilot valve to control a driving force required to operate a main valve 2 to open and close the main valve 2,valve box 6 enclosing the main valve 2 is sandwiched between pipe flanges F, F1 tightened to each other with bolts B, B1, . . . and nuts N, N1, . . . . In addition, the valve box 6 is flangeless at its connection end portions 11, 12 for connection with the pipe flanges F, F1 and having an inlet and outlet 7 and 8 for a pressurized fluid respectively. A cover flange neck 18 extended upward from the valve box 6 is restricted only at sites on its wide walls corresponding to the bolts B, B1 extended between the pipe flanges F, F1 and adjacent to each other on the circumferences of the pipe flanges F, F1, so that the cover flange neck 18 can be passed through the interval between the bolts B, B1 at this restricted portion.
