55 results about "Static cling" patented technology

Static cling is the tendency for light objects to stick (cling) to other objects owing to static electricity. It is common in clothing, but occurs with other items, such as the tendency of dust to be attracted to, and stick to, plastic items.

Measuring tool and method of making

A tool for measuring, marking, and cutting material, the tool formed of a rigid sheet of transparent material having a transparent flexible sheet of pressure-sensitive material removably adhered thereon to cover one side of the rigid sheet and provide a removable, non-slip surface. One or the other of the rigid and flexible sheets has a plurality of lines formed thereon, preferably two-color lines, to aid in measuring and marking material. The pressure-sensitive material is formed of a non-static cling vinyl film having plasticizers that continually migrate to the surface of the film.

Tactile Guides for Touchscreens

Provided are tactile guides which may be reversibly adhered to the screen of a touchscreen device, allowing the user to know the position of displayed controls. In some embodiments, directional information is also provided by the tactile guide such that a user may detect by sense of touch up-down and / or lateral orientation of displayed controls such as slider bars or joysticks. This allows the user to quickly engage displayed controls without looking at their fingertip. The tactile guides of the invention may advantageously be configured for any software application. The tactile guides of the invention take myriad forms, including static cling films, buttons, and combinations thereof.

Apparatus and method for protection of a vehicle exterior portion

A protective apparatus intended to be applied to an exterior portion of a vehicle, including a method for such application. The invention is a series of sheets or panels affixed to previously-determined places along the front nose of a vehicle to protect the paint and finish located at such areas. Specifically, the sheets are constructed of a polyvinyl chloride material in the preferred mode, and may be designed to be placed beneath a halter or “bra” cover of a vehicle, so as to protect the paint from damage caused by the halter. Such damage is commonly due to the vinyl, plastic, nylon, or cotton halter constantly rubbing against the vehicle exterior during vibration and wind. Thus, strips or pieces of the polyvinyl chloride material are specially placed upon the vehicle to provide a much-needed barrier between the halter and paint. Similarly, strips or pieces of the polyvinyl chloride material may also be placed as barriers between any other existing vehicle protection device and the vehicle itself. Finally, such strips or pieces may be adhered to the vehicle by the method of static cling, wherein electrostatic properties of the material allow the same to tightly engage the vehicle surface absent the usage of adhesives. As such, the adhesion method allows the polyvinyl chloride strips to be removed from the vehicle and re-used in a convenient manner.

Multiple static cling sign method

InactiveUS20060260162A1Maximizes information perceivedMaintain positionMobile visual advertisingSignsStatic clingComputer science
A method of displaying signs for providing information to observers regarding structures and any means of transportation. This method finds the greatest applicability in the promotion and sale of these items. The signs used involve adhesion using static cling methods, that allow the signs to be easily removed and replaced. The information on the signs is presented in a variable format, including repetitive, unique, or a combination of repetitive and unique information. The signs are visible from multiple angles and / or locations, and are able to be placed within and without the vehicle or structure. The advantages of this method is that multiple signs present a continuous visual barrage of information to an observer, which assists in the conveying of information to potential customers. This method also finds use on items contained in structures, for stores and museums, where the signs convey desired information and / or messages.

Color-safe fabric wrinkle removing and refreshing composition

Composition spray applied on fabrics to de-wrinkle and refresh while protecting colors which leaves no discernable residue. Quality water, one or more alcohol(s) and one or more surfactant(s) penetrate the fabric weave. One or more acids lower pH to stabilize sensitive dyes, thus ensuring color-safeness. Alcohols hasten drying and fragrances mask alcohol odor and help consumers identify the product. Mechanical action(s) by the user enhances wrinkle removal or imparts shape. Optional malodor-eliminating compounds keep fabrics fresh longer, or refresh malodorous garments. Optional specific quaternary ammonium compound reduces static cling but does not significantly increase residues. The composition de-wrinkles commercial fabrics, and clothing from casual to fine, spray applied using a pre-compression sprayer. The composition is environmentally friendly, safe for use on all types of fabrics, and safe for use at home or commercially.

Multifunctional laundry sheet

A multifunctional laundry sheet that comprises, and combines the benefits of, a color catcher, a fabric softener, and a fragrance is disclosed. The color catcher absorbs or traps loose dye in wash liquor during a typical wash cycle of a washing machine, thereby preventing the re-deposition of the dye to fabrics being washed therein, while the fabric softener enhances the appearance of fabrics during a typical drying cycle of an automatic dryer by decreasing static cling, increasing softness and fluffiness, or decreasing wrinkles, of the fabrics. Preferably, at least a portion of the catcher remains associated with the laundry sheet during the washing and imparts visual color change to the laundry sheet after the color catcher is affiliated with loose colorants in the laundry bath. It is also preferable that at least a portion of the fabric softener remains associated with the laundry sheet during the washing process so that the laundry sheet can be further used in a drying process to impart fabric conditioning benefits to the fabrics.

Bifocal spectacles for computer users

A polyvinyl display device for bifocal computer / reading spectacles. The display device enables a person to identify a pair of spectacles having the correct optical center to match the wearer's pupillary separation. The present invention includes, in combination, a pair of spectacles having two near focal powers and a new type of display mechanism that allows the purchaser to choose not only the correct power needed, but also the correct pair of glasses to match the user's pupillary distance (PD). Optical centers of finished reading glasses are marked, then a display device including an opaque polyvinyl static cling film having two, preferably round, holes therein is placed onto the glasses such that the holes in the film overlie the optical centers. When the user dons the glasses, if a solid round area is viewed, the spectacles have the correct size for the user's PD. If a figure eight or two holes is viewed, the PD is too wide. If the user views the outside edges, the PD is too narrow. By visual observation, the consumer can find the correctly sized reading glasses. The reading glasses preferably are fabricated in three different PD's, Narrow, 55-58 mm, Medium, 59-62 mm and Wide, 63-66 mm.
