Problems solved by technology

Tests have shown that γ-ray irradiation crosslinking can increase the wear resistance of UHMWPE on a hip simulator by more than 90% (SM Kurtz, OK Muratoglu, M Evans, AA Edidin. Advances in the processing, sterilization, and crosslinking of ultra -high molecular weightpolyethylene for total joint arthritis.Biomaterials 1999; 20:1659-1688.), but γ-ray irradiation is difficult to improve the wear resistance of UHMWPE on the knee joint simulator (A.Wang, A.Essner, V.K.Polineni , C.Stark and J.H.Dumbleton, Tribology International 1998, 31, (1-3): 17-33), and γ-ray irradiation increases the overall brittleness of the material; electron beam irradiation can enhance the wear resistance of UHMWPE , but electron beam irradiation causes a deeper oxide layer on the surface of UHMWPE, which can only be used after removing the thicker oxide layer, and electron beam irradiation is line-of-sight processing, and part of the curved surface of the acetabular cup cannot be irradiated (O.K.Muratoglua, D.O.O'Connora, CR Bragdon, Gradient crosslinking of UHMWPE using irradiation in molten state for totaljoint arthritis.Biomaterials, 2002, 23:717-724); ion implantation can improve the surface crosslinking of UHMWPE while maintaining the overall original performance of UHMWPE degree, hardness and wear resistance, but the injection layer is too thin to be used for a long time

Abstract

The invention discloses a nanoparticle reinforced ultra high molecular weight polyethylene artificial joint material and a preparation method thereof. The nanoparticle reinforced ultra high molecular weight polyethylene artificial joint material takes nanoparticles which are filled in the ultra high molecular weight polyethylene as cross-linking points, thereby forming a polymer composite material with a network cross-linking structure. The method comprises the following steps: ultra high molecular weight polyethylene powder is subdivided and screened; ethanol solution containing a coupling agent is used for modifying the nanoparticles; the nanoparticles are fully mixed with the ultra high molecular weight polyethylene powder; the powder after the mixing is dispersed; the mixed powder is added in a mold, and the block composite material is prepared by hot-pressing forming. The filling amount of nanoparticles in the nanoparticle / UHMWPE composite material is low, which is less than 10 percent by weight; the wear rate of the composite material is decreased to one half to one fifth of pure UHMWPE, the friction coefficient is decreased to one half to one fourth of the pure UHMWPE, and the experimental results on a knee joint wear test machine particularly prove that the wear resistance thereof is significantly improved.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention belongs to a material for implant devices, which is suitable for artificial joint friction bearing material—nano particle reinforced ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene artificial joint material and its preparation method. Background technique [0002] Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) has good chemical stability, impact resistance and friction and wear properties. It has been used as a joint friction bearing material for more than 40 years. Debris is the main factor leading to aseptic loosening and late failure of artificial joints. Irradiation can improve the degree of crosslinking, hardness and wear resistance of UHMWPE. Tests have shown that γ-ray irradiation crosslinking can increase the wear resistance of UHMWPE on a hip simulator by more than 90% (SM Kurtz, OK Muratoglu, M Evans, AA Edidin. Advances in the processing, sterilization, and crosslinking of ultra -high molecular weightpolyethylene for total joint ...
