Abstract

The invention discloses petroleum coke-based activated carbon and a preparation method thereof. The activated carbon has a specific surface area of 2000-3500m<2>/g, a pore volume of 0.8-1.5 cm<3>/g, an iodine adsorption value of 2000-3000mg/g and a methylene blue adsorption value of 300-650mg/g. The preparation method comprises the following steps: introducing ammonium phosphate into petroleum coke, drying and then pretreating; mixing the obtained sample with an activating agent, activating after uniformly mixing, and finally washing and drying to obtain the activated carbon.
