The power manager reads each of a first thermal design power (TDP) value for the processing units and a second TDP value for a platform housing the semiconductor chip. The power manager determines a ratio of the first TDP value to the second TDP value. Additionally, the power manager determines another ratio of the first TDP value to the calculated power value. Using the measured temperature, the ratios and the calculated power value, the power manager determines a manner to adjust the operating parameters.

A caching mechanism for JAVA RMI remote objects is provided. In order to efficiently implement a cache for these connection objects, the client JYM may hold a normal reference to the object while the connection is in use and for a period of time thereafter. A thread is used as a timer for each connection. After that period of time expires, only a weak reference is held by the client JVM and the connection may be garbage collected. The period of time maybe adjusted. A shorter time may be used to ensure responsiveness of the server JVM to memory demand and shutdown requests, while a longer time may be used to enhance the effectiveness of the caching mechanism by forcing connections to stay open longer after they are no longer being used and before they are automatically destroyed due to garbage collection.

According to the present invention, an integrated thermal management interface may be used to intentionally manage and control the heat generated by both devices in a shared and efficient manner (e.g., in addition to natural heat dissipation). In particular, the interface may be a unified sub-system, which may be electrical or mechanical (or a combination of both), used to actively control the heat of the two distinct devices, i.e., the heat-generating portions of the two devices, by creating a thermally conductive path to a shared heat dissipation mechanism. A computer-implemented method for verifying a transaction in a blockchain network may be provided. The blockchain network comprises nodes participating in performing the transaction. The method comprises grouping the nodes of the blockchain network into a plurality of clusters of nodes. For each cluster, the method comprises determining for each node of the cluster performance parameter values, calculating a weighted sum of the determined performance parameter values, designating the node with the highest weighted sum as cluster leader, designating a number of nodes of the cluster whose weighted sum is next to the highest weighted sum, as sub-cluster leader, the number being at least half of the total number of nodes within said cluster, and verifying the transaction for the cluster by the cluster leader and the sub-cluster leaders.
