An unsaturated polyester resin preparation method comprises the following steps: proportioning according to the weight percent of each component, adding xytene-formaldehyde resin and saturated binary acid in a reaction kettle containing a thermometer, a mixer, a nitrogen ingress pipe and a condenser, heating gradually to 180-200 DEG C until the measured acid value is below 10mgKOH / g while mixing the mixture; reducing the temperature below 160 DEG C, then adding unsaturated binary acid, diol and partial polymerization inhibitor, heating gradually to 200-210 DEG C to react until the acid value is below 30mgKOH / g; reducing the temperature of the reaction products to 100 DEG C, adding residual polymerization inhibitor and crosslinkable monomer, and mixing the mixture for 1h to obtain the finished product.
