Abstract

The invention provides a method for alkyl derivatization and separation of sulfur-containing compounds in petroleum components. The method comprises the following steps: dissolving the petroleum component in an organic solvent; adding an alkylating agent and silver hexafluoroantimonate to the dissolved petroleum component, and carrying out an alkylation reaction at 0°C-80°C for 20min-6h , to complete the alkyl derivatization of sulfur compounds in petroleum components. The generated sulfonium salts can be used to analyze the molecular composition of sulfur-containing compounds in petroleum; high-purity sulfides and thiophenes can be separated by selective demethylation.
