92 results about "Virtual directory" patented technology

In computing, the term virtual directory has a couple of meanings. It may simply designate (for example in IIS) a folder which appears in a path but which is not actually a subfolder of the preceding folder in the path. However, this article will discuss the term in the context of directory services and identity management.

Method, system and computer program product for ordering merchandise in a global computer network environment

An electronic shopping server formats and sends an electronic page, having an integrated shopping basket with drag and drop functionality, from a virtual catalog to a plurality of clients. The server includes an e-sessions controller that manages and tracks each session with the clients, profile generator that identifies and authorizes each consumer to engage in the sessions, catalog selector responsive to on-demand requests for the contents and supporting data of each catalog page, and order processor that supports purchase requests. The e-sessions controller manages the sessions by causing each client to launch an electronic sessions application. The resident application includes a local sessions controller that brokers all client communications with the server and implements the instructions from the e-sessions controller. The resident application also includes an image generator for displaying an image of each item from the catalog page, descriptive data generator for displaying supporting data for each item, and an order panel generator for displaying a shopping basket that remains on the same page with the image at all times. An order initiator can be included to send a request for the server to create a facsimile of the shopping basket. An item adder and item remover cause items to be added/removed from the client's basket and, if included, server's basket upon executing a web page function. An order executor synchronizes the two shopping baskets and/or sends a request to purchase the items listed in the shopping basket. The shopping basket can be configured to travel with the consumer to receive input from various servers hosting different web sites.

Method for prolonging service life of nonvolatile storage with reconfigurable file system directory tree

The invention belongs to the field of file systems and relates to a method for prolonging service life of nonvolatile storage with a reconfigurable file system directory tree. The method is characterized in that a memory virtual directory tree is included, update of metadata of the file system directory tree is recorded into a memory without being written back to a persistent directory tree, and a tree structure of the file system directory tree is provided by means of an embedded link method, namely, a manner of embedding index link information in indexed pages; the content of the file system directory tree provided by a persistent metadata log type written-in method is upgraded, namely a manner of compressing a plurality of metadata pages and writing in the compressed pages in the form of logs; after failure recovery, the file system directory tree is rapidly constructed. According to the method for prolonging service life of nonvolatile storage with the reconfigurable file system directory tree, the influence of metadata written-back operation on performances and service life of a storage system can be effectively relieved, and high-speed access to the metadata of the file system directory tree and fast reconstruction after failure recovery are provided.

Methods and apparatus for managing mobile content

A mobile application platform enables a user of a mobile device to manage Personalized Offline Web Applications (POW Apps) on a variety of devices. A Virtual Directory (VD) technology that is multi-source capable permits the POW code and content to be variably localized (Developer / User controls POW content / code stored on the user's device). The end user enters login information into a mobile application that is using the engine of the mobile application platform and receives POW code and content individually configured to the end user. A content manager or publisher controls what aspects of the POW application are stored locally and what aspects are kept on the server. When content is requested that is not stored locally, the content is either downloaded and opened locally or accessed on the web server like in the case of a streaming video or audio. After viewing any portion of the video or audio file, the user can decide to download the entire video or audio for offline use. The user is given this option or the content developer can predetermine how different types of POW code and content are handled through configuration settings. In addition to accessing or downloading online content, periodic communication back to the mobile application platform cloud can be implemented to get updates to the content and report back user activity, such as test scores and usage statistics.

Method for organizing dummy catalog and managing naming space for distributed file systems

ActiveCN101334785AOvercome the disadvantage of not being able to provide on-demand servicesMaintain consistencySpecial data processing applicationsSpatial managementRelational algebra
The invention relates to a DFS (distributed file system) virtual directory organization and name-space management method including the following steps: file metadata of the file system is adopted according to a user inquiry request and a context to compute on-demand and dynamically generate the virtual directory in the relational algebra means so as to provide file serves matching the present context in hierachical form of the virtual file view for the user; the operations of creating, deleting, moving, renaming, opening, closing, reading, writing and cutting to files and operations of creating, deleting and renaming to context directories can be carried out in the virtual directory name-space. The invention has the beneficial effects that the adoption of the computed on-demand and dynamically generated virtual directory in a large-scale mass file storage system overcomes the defect that the traditional hierachical directory structure cannot provide services on demand, and provides the high effective file search and organization form. The adoption of file metadata including file attributes and contexts in the organization process of the virtual directory can actively provide file serves for the user according to the changing of the contexts.

Highly effective dynamic path analysis method based on ContextFS

The invention relates to an efficient dynamic path analytic method based on a ContextFS context file system, comprising the following steps: firstly, a user access preference and a file access behavioral pattern are determined through analysis of historical context information; secondly, a virtual directory path is selected from out-of-order virtual directories according to the file access behavioral pattern and the current user context information; thirdly, the importance degree of files is divided according to a user custom, the user access preference and the file access behavioral pattern; buffer file paths or the files are classified respectively on a mainframe (UH) on which the user is positioned, a metadata server (MS) and a file server (FS); the efficiency of path analysis is improved through a multistage buffer mechanism. The efficient dynamic path analytic method has the advantages that: the virtual directory path is determined by utilization of the file access behavioral pattern and the current context trend, and the multistage buffer mechanism is adopted on the file paths or the files for improving the efficiency of path analysis according to the user custom, the user access preference and the file assess behavioral pattern, thereby the file access performance of the ContextFS file system is improved.
