Construction Of A Gripping Fabric

A gripping fabric and method for construction thereof is provided. A fabric structure that defines an inner surface and an outer surface is created. The fabric structure or the gripping fabric is configured to conform to a user's body part for constructing a garment, for example, a sock. The inner surface is proximal to a user contact surface and distal to an external contact surface. The outer surface is proximal to the external contact surface and distal to the user contact surface. A gripping material is selectively applied on the inner surface and / or the outer surface of the fabric structure. The gripping material on the inner surface and the outer surface of the fabric structure adheres to the user contact surface and the external contact surface respectively, thereby providing grip between the user contact surface and the fabric structure, and grip between the fabric structure and the external contact surface.

Modular adjustable frame hand loom

An adjustable knitting and weaving hand loom includes differently shaped elongate sections. Tabs and channels connect the sections to form a closed frame by connecting adjoining sections in end-to-end abutment. The tabs and mating channels form sliding joints between adjoining sections. Each of the sections is provided with a series of substantially uniformly spaced holes or bores. End-most holes through the tabs and the channels are aligned when the axial tabs are fully slidably mated within associated axial channels. Pegs are dimensioned to be received both within aligned end-most holes at each slip joint and intermediate holes. The pegs are inserted into aligned end-most bores or holes function both to secure yarn during knitting and to lock the axial tabs from inadvertently separating from mating axial channels by movements along the direction of insertion.

Knitting needle with ergonomic configuration

InactiveUS7874181B1Easily and comfortably held by knittersEasy and faster knittingHand toolsEngineeringRepetitive motion
A knitting needle with one or more elevation changes that provide ergonomic benefit on the portions of its shaft typically held by knitters during stitch / loop creation, to allow knitting with enhanced comfort, faster knitting, and / or knitting for longer periods of time with less risk of hands becoming prematurely tired, numb, or aching from the repetitive motion inherent in knitting activity. The needle may also have different cross-sectional configurations that provide additional ergonomic benefit, in place of the traditional circular shape still most commonly used. The elevation changes are not positioned on the pointed tip of the needle, or within approximately one-and-one-half to two inches thereof, and are not so configured or pronounced as to interfere with the easy movement of stitches along the needle's shaft. A tube or post may further be added to the end cap on the non-pointed end of a single-point needle for convenient point protector mounting.

A crochet hook with one or more elevation changes associated with the exterior surface of its elongated shaft that provide ergonomic benefit on the grip area of the shaft typically held by a person crocheting, to allow crocheting with enhanced comfort, faster crocheting, and / or crocheting for longer periods of time with less risk of hands becoming tired, numb, or aching from the repetitive motion inherent in crocheting activity. The hook's shaft may also have different cross-sectional configurations that provide ergonomic benefit, such as that of a triangle with softened edges, instead of the traditional circular shape still most commonly used. The elevation changes typically extend longitudinally along the crochet hook shaft a minimum of approximately two-and-one-half to three inches, and are not usually positioned on the hook associated with the crochet hook's shaft, or within approximately one to one-and-one-eighth inches thereof.

Interactive knitting and crocheting system

The interactive knitting and crocheting system includes at least one crocheting or knitting needle with a motion-based sensing capability integrated therein and a computing means. The computing means monitors movement of the respective needle to monitor proper crocheting or knitting technique, and upon detection of improper technique will provide an alert that an error has occurred, which shall prevent waste in work. The computing means provides notice of improper technique in the form of an audiovisual means, which can double as an instructional aid in teaching how to crochet or knit. The computing means also provides progress as to the stitch and pattern formed.

Method for hands only weaving

A process for weaving that can be implemented using just the hands as the loom and shuttle, a weaving material such as yarn, an instrument for cutting like nail clippers or a small pair of scissors, and an object for intermissions in the process such as a paper clip. The weaving process is simplified to the most basic concepts of weaving that can be enjoyed by any age group, such as, but not limited to, from five-year-old children to adults. The absence of barriers like cumbersome weaving looms permits the process to be practiced in a multitude of settings.

Knitting method and system using stretch yarn

An object of the invention is to be capable of easily acquiring a fabric having a desired feeling using a stretch yarn. A knitting controller (20) controls a carriage (5), and the like, according to knitting data and control data stored in a memory (21). Data representing relationships between a gauge texture and a stitch loop length being obtained after knitting and the relationships between these gauge texture and stitch loop length and the length and tension of the stretch yarn (2) being fed at the time of knitting are collected previously and stored in the memory (21) in the form of table data. The knitting controller (20) sets control target values of the length and tension of the stretch yarn (2) for a yarn feed controller (23) such that a gauge texture and a stitch loop length being specified by an input unit (22) can be attained, with reference to the table data stored in the memory (21).

Adjustable knitting needle and method for knitting

A knitting needle assembly has a needle body including a tip at one end and a cord connected to the needle body at other end. An adjustable slider is disposed on the cord. The cord stabilizes and holds stitches of yarn used to create a knitted workpiece. The distance between the needle tip and the slider can be adjusted by the user to accommodate the width of the knitted workpiece. Two such assemblies are used to knit. The sliders on each assembly can be adjusted to compress previously formed stiches of the workpiece so that the stitches are delivered to the needle body under a resiliency force. The sliders can also be adjusted to accommodate newly formed stitches without compression so they move freely away from the needle tip once they are formed.

Finishing needle

The finishing needle is a hand sewing tool used for weaving loose ends of yarn back into a hand-knitted item when finishing a knitting work. The finishing needle is a long needle with two ends that taper to a semi-point at each end. The needle has a single eye that extends through the length of the needle. The eye has a beveled edge that provides for easier threading and to hold the yarn securely. The finishing needle can weave loose ends of yarn into a knitted item when finishing without stopping to turn the needle around, and with no need to re-thread, when weaving in the opposite direction. The finishing needle can more easily make use of shorter lengths of yarn than a conventional needle or hook, and can finish a large knitted item or one with multiple colors much faster than with a conventional needle.
