When molded, mold elements press opposed portions of the prepreg tube into contact with one another, and shape the adjoining prepreg material into a string port hole blanks. The portion of the pressed-together material which initially blocks the string port hole is removed after molding so that the string port holes extend through the frame. Alternatively, the mold elements cause the prepreg tube to follow a serpentine shape, thereby defining string port holes which are open alternately along the top and bottom surface of the frame. A pair of cover rings may be secured to the top and bottom racquet surfaces to cover the open sides of the string port holes.

Threaded compression-enhanced fastening device for use with threaded rods

Disclosed is a compression-based fastening device that is suitable for use with threaded fiberglass reinforced polymer (FRP) rod. FRP rod is often desirable due to certain favorable characteristics relative to metallic rods. Threaded FRP rod, however, has been somewhat unsatisfactory to date owing to the weakness of its thread structure. The herein disclosed device makes a threaded connection to a threaded FRP rod with an ultimate tensile strength that is several times greater than previously has been achieved with FRP rod, thereby effectively enabling FRP rod to be used in place of threaded steel rod. The preferred device includes a barrel with a tapered interior and a jaw assembly with a tapered exterior and internal threads. The jaw assembly's interior thread's engage the threaded FRP rod and the jaw assembly's tapered exterior slidably engages the barrel's tapered interior. As such, tightening the jaw assembly onto the threaded RFP rod also pulls the jaw assembly into the barrel's tapered interior so as to compress the jaw assembly against the threaded RFP rod and enhance the tensile strength of the threaded connection. Numerous embodiments are possible in terms of the configuration of the barrel, the jaw assembly, and the structure (e.g. an integral or separable nut) used to apply a tightening torque to the jaw assembly.

An EAS tag is provided having improved anti-defeat devices and methods. A pin assembly is coupled to a lanyard and includes a reduced cross-sectional profile that may be passed through a monitored article to produce no damage or minimal damage to the monitored article. The pin assembly engages a spring clamp provided in the EAS tag and is electrically coupled to an intermediate spring contact that provides an electrical current to a PC board for arming the EAS tag. A force may be applied to the intermediate spring contact to generate a reset signal that disarms the EAS tag. An alarm signal is generated if current to the PC board is disrupted without a corresponding reset signal, such as if the pin assembly is removed without rotating the intermediate spring contact or if the lanyard is cut. The tag body is provided with an arcuate channel through which an arcuate detacher probe can be guided for releasing the attaching assembly part.

The invention is a bone screw apparatus. The bone screw apparatus has two specialized functions for stabilizing the screw within a bone. The first is a mechanical structure that anchors the screw within a bone and the second is a structure that allows injection of bone cement through the screw assembly and into the interior structure of the bone. The anchoring mechanism functions by an expandable member that slides concentrically over the shaft of the screw. When the expandable member is forced over a portion of the screw shaft with an enlarged diameter, the expandable member extends radially from the screw shaft, and the bone screw is anchored to the interior structure of the bone. The injecting function of the bone screw apparatus functions through the use of a hollow core within the screw shaft. The hollow core of the screw shaft has an inlet at the top of the shaft and at least one outlet near the tip of the screw shaft. Once the screw shaft is inserted into the interior structure of a bone, bone cement may be injected into the inlet at the top of the screw shaft. The bone cement travels through the hollow core of the screw shaft and is extruded out the holes near the tip of the screw shaft. The bone cement fills the void spaces within the bone structure and strengthens the bone.

Method for fabricating composite pressure vessels

A process of fabricating a composite vessel includes the steps of: A) fabricating a thermoplastic liner for the vessel; B) overlaying a layer comprising fiber and a thermoplastic material (preferably by winding commingled filaments, rovings or yarns) onto the thermoplastic liner to obtain a composite intermediate structure (the fiber and thermoplastic material can be heated if desired during the overlaying, e.g. winding, step); C) heating the composite intermediate structure in a mold while applying at least one force thereto tending to urge the composite intermediate structure against and into the shape of the interior walls of the mold; D) continuing step C) until the thermoplastic liner and the overlaid layer consolidate to form a composite vessel; E) cooling the mold and composite vessel until the composite vessel is solidified; and F) removing the formed composite vessel from the mold. The at least one force applied during step C) may be obtained by introducing gas pressure into the interior of the composite intermediate structure. Suitable materials for the thermoplastic material include: polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutylene terephthalate and polyethylene terephthalate. The resulting composite vessel exhibits superior mechanical and aesthetic properties.

The invention relates to a threading guide device for double-end crimping and belongs to the field of appliance tools. A terminal crimping device is used for crimping incoming leads of two ends of a butt joint terminal so as to enable two ends of the terminal and the leads to be electrically and mechanically inseparably connected.
