The topical hemostatic composition comprises 0.5-50% w / v of N-acetylglucosamine and distilled water as a solvent. The topical hemostatic composition may also include one or more other sugars selected from sucrose, maltose, invert sugars, glucose, and fructose. The topical hemostatic composition may also include a salt of one or more selected from the group consisting of calcium chloride (CaCl2), sodium chloride (NaCl), ferric trichloride (FeCl3), alum [KAl (SO4) 2], and copperas (FeSO4).
