A push plate for moving a flow control valve in a covered eye wash fountain is interconnected with a cover whereby opening the flow control valve also opens the cover while simultaneously providing independent opening and closure of the cover without moving the push plate, and simultaneously providing closure of the flow control valve from an open position without closing the cover. The covered eyewash fountain embodying the present allows the cover to be raised and the fountain inspected, cleaned, serviced, or repaired without opening the flow control valve.

An emergency water release device comprises heating elements adapted to heat water, a shower and an eyewash, a valve and a controller which sends a first signal to turn off at least one of the plurality of heating elements when a temperature of the water exceeds a predetermined limit, and when a flow rate of the water is reduced to a reduced flow rate, the valve opens so that water is dispersed away from both the shower and the eyewash in an amount equal to the difference between the flow rate and the reduced flow rate. The heating elements form a first set electrically connected in series which provides heat for water to be dispensed by the shower, a second set electrically connected in series which provides heat for water to be dispensed by the eyewash. The first and second set of heating elements can be connected in parallel. The controller may also be configured to send a signal to another valve to open so that unheated water is mixed with heated water.

The present invention provides a portable eyewash system having a main conduit able to receive fluid from various fluid sources. The main conduit is coupled to a fluid division conduit, which defines a fluid inlet, a first fluid outlet, and a second fluid outlet. The first and second fluid outlets are in fluid communication with first and second flexible tubes, respectively, which then direct fluid flow to first and second eyewash cups. The present invention may further include a fluid regulating element coupled to either flexible tube, as well as a pressure relief element in fluid communication with the main conduit.

A pump assembly for an emergency eyewash station and method of retrofitting a plumbed emergency eyewash station is disclosed. The pump is configured into two parts, an impeller assembly and a drive assembly, that are configured to couple together. The impeller assembly is isolated from the drive assembly and can be easily replaced to ensure a sterile fluid path is maintained for the eyewash fluid. The drive assembly can be fluid powered or an electric motor as desired. The present invention allows a plumbed eyewash station to be retrofitted to use a sterile eyewash fluid. The present invention can also be used in portable eyewash station units too.

A timer and alert module for an emergency eyewash station is disclosed. The module includes a housing; a control circuit having a timing cycle contained within the housing; a speaker electrically connected to the control circuit; a switch configured and arranged to disable the control circuit; and a sensor configured and arranged to trigger the control circuit to start the timing cycle. An emergency eyewash station is disclosed. The eyewash station includes a body portion and a reservoir contained within the body portion. The reservoir contains eyewash fluid and has a filling port with a sealed membrane thereon. An actuator assembly is connected to the body portion and is movable between an armed position and an actuated position. The actuator assembly has a dispensing structure thereon. A piercing mechanism is positioned adjacent to the membrane of the reservoir and has a movable piercing element configured to puncture the membrane when the actuator assembly is activated. Activating the actuator assembly puts the dispensing structure in fluid connection with the reservoir when the piercing element pierces the membrane. In an alternative embodiment, the reservoir is configured to be impaled upon the piercing element upon activation.
